DO NOT LIVE HERE
I came here to write a review to warn people not to live here assuming there weren't anymore out there and it saddens me that there are so many similar reviews and nothing will change.
DO NOT LIVE HERE.
I moved to Austin from out of town and one of the clerks convinced me to sign a lease after only doing a virtual tour.
Safety: My car was broken into in the parking lot, I informed Verde and they did absolutely nothing, not even a follow up. There are constantly homeless people hanging out in... the parking lots, and (I am a athletic young guy) still feel unsafe when coming home late at night, I cant imagine living there as a girl.
Hygiene: This place is absolutely disgusting. Expect to find a dead cockroach in your apartment daily. You will have to take your clothes to the laundromat because the washing machines are disgusting, smelly, the inside is littered with dog hairs, dirt, weird leftovers of detergent, etc. The "dog park" (a small patch of grass right next to my front door) is constantly covered in dog poop. There is a real smell to the complex.
Maintenance: Bring tools when you move in, cause if anything breaks it's staying that way until you fix it. My air conditioning broke in JULY IN TEXAS and it took them 2 weeks to send someone to fix it.
Price: Your rent will be over $100 more than listed price with random fees and utilities that I don't understand where they go. (Trash fee when I had to bring my garbage to a dumpster, Pest fee which is just hilarious considering the amount of bugs in my apartment, a flood fee, how is that the tenants responsibility?!) AND on top of that, they charged me a parting gift of $800 for insanely manufactured charges (i.e. $120 for small holes made to hang pictures).
Cheapness: I got roped into signing based on the pictures, you will quickly learn they look nice from a distance, but everything is done cheaply; paint, cabinets, utilities, etc. My shower head fell off the ceiling and on top of my head mid-shower.
Staff: A relative indifference to their performance and the quality of the facility. They'll nod their apathetically and listen to your complaints but you know they won't do anything. When I got the final $800 charge, the assistant manager in charge of move out costs gave me such a smug smirk that it took every fiber in my being to just walk out.
