Run Away
When we moved in to the apartment... we marked off a long list of areas where this apartment did not meet expectations, including CONTRACTOR EQUIPMENT and dirt left in the apartment, disintegrating closet doors, broken kitchen cabinet, lightbulbs out, fire alarms with beeping batteries. A few of those issues were resolved, the rest ignored.
The stairs are so poorly planned for the upstairs apartments that we were unable to fit any of our larger furniture into the apartment, and had to give away... our brand-new regular sized couch.
The lawns outside were just full of dog poop. It was disgusting when the snow started melting. No one picks up, and the station for doggie bags was empty the entire time I lived there.
And the reason we finally had to move out... Our neighbor across the hall smoked a ton of weed inside so the hall smelled of weed, and our downstairs neighbor smoked cigarettes in her bathroom, which billowed in through our bathroom vent and could be smelled throughout the apartment ALL THROUGH the winter. It was so embarrassing to have friends over bc it smelled like a smoker's apartment, not even accounting for the effects of 2nd hand smoking on us. I asked Redstone to fix the issue, which ended up being them asking our downstairs neighbor if she was smoking inside, to which she said "nope" and just kept on smoking inside. Nothing was done about it. Redstone refused to come evaluate our apartment because of COVID, and the smoke continued to happen.
So, we asked to be released from the lease, because we did not want to breathe in cigarette smoke. Redstone agreed to lose the early termination fee. They had said they would list the apartment as available, but there was NO information or indication that they were replacing us on the lease. So after finally getting hold of management, I told them when we were out and I went off the fact that they had released us from the lease, which they acknowledged, and we went forward with moving out.
Several months later, they hit me up and tried to give me a $2800 bill. Apparently, they hadn't even listed the apartment, and let our lease run to the end, contrary to what they offered in writing. This is by far the WORST apartment management company I've had to deal with. RUN AWAY.
