NEVER PAY HOLDING FEE, NEVER APPLY HERE
I never moved into Stack House, yet they charged me a $500 “move-out” fee on top of the $500 holding fee I paid during the application process. After touring the property, I was told I didn't qualify for the apartment. I specifically asked about the holding fee and was assured it would be refunded. However, after several follow-ups and reassurances, the refund never came.
After disputing the charge with my bank and getting the money back, Stack House sent an email charging me a $500 move-out... fee for an apartment I never moved into. They also reversed the bank dispute, taking the $500 holding fee back. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue, they’re now threatening to send the move-out fee to collections and damage my credit score.
Their billing department was unprofessional and dismissive, telling me to “chill” when I tried to address the issue. This situation has left me nearly $500 in the negative, struggling to pay for basic necessities like gas and food. I’ve never experienced anything like this from an apartment complex in all my years of renting and I’m almost 32 and have been renting since 19 years old. I have applied to hundreds of apartments over the 32 years. I have been alive and have never had a holding fee, not returned to me or texted me.
