Friendly and Helpful Team

I am very thankful for my 3 years at the Monroe. I recently moved to a smaller place, but I already miss it. Ann was always friendly, helpful, and responsive. The maintenance team would often show up within minutes of my request. Allen was the best and helped me with even the little things. He and the whole maintenance team were very attentive, responsive, and helpful as well as friendly. The apartment was lovely and the pool was a great place to hang out! I enjoyed using the gym. It had basic... equipment and machines, but was everything I needed. Although I had a few issues over the years, they were always quick to help and there to listen. I will miss the team at the Monroe!

Surprisingly undelighted

I have been a resident for just over a year, lease renewal was increased by 35% from previous year. Constantly dealing with lack of information sharing, i.e. they don't communicate well with tenants. IF we get notified, its a the last minute, but usually no notice has become the normal. One of the access gates was damaged, it took a week for them to acknowledge and begin the repair process. This process took well over a month, and no updates as to completion ETA were provided, not even when... the repair was complete and use of the access point is possible. Pool shut down many times without any warning, cause, or reopen date. Grille and fire pit at pool stopped working, not even notified, "hey the grill is down, we are working on it, completion expected on XXXXX". Nope not a word. Pool cleanliness is lacking significantly, after an type of wind or storm, expect the pool area not to be cleaned for several days. Valet trash pickup is spotty at best, at least twice a month they miss pickup and don't bother making up that day missed. Trash pickup is Sunday through Thursday, and if they miss Thursday, you get to smell your trash all weekend because they wont have a make-up day for the day they missed. Disabled vehicle has been parked in the same spot for the last year, in a prime parking spot near the building, yet they refuse to ask the owner to relocate it to a proper location not highly utilized. Pet owners are fairly good at making sure droppings are picked up, but you always find land mines in the grass around the building, so stay on the pavement. HVAC systems are original, with a few exceptions that have been updated, so they are 20+ years old, inefficient, and loud. Countertops look original, so many chips at every edge, nothing like their "Model" apartment which has new countertops. Most of my light fixtures flicker, its not the bulbs, I have replaced them, still flicker. Ceiling fans wobble significantly, barely usable. Only 1 cable outlet works in the entire apartment, washer and dryers are very old, rusty is lots of places. Exhaust fans in bathrooms are Airport loud, if they are on, you cannot have a conversation with anyone. For a place that increased my rates by 35%, I would expect to have new(er) appliances and countertops. Honestly, I cannot wait to move out an into a newer place for less rent. Do yourself a favor, and pass on this property.

I'd give it less if i could. Read it all and do yourself a favor

I know when I looked at negative reviews for apartments I always tried to assume that the reviewer had one issue and went straight to the internet to vent. I want the reader to know that it took months of terrible service from management for me to finally come share my experience.

The apartments themselves have been updated, but you can tell that it was done quickly and poorly. There is paint splatter everywhere, particularly on windows. The floors have slight slopes under the carpets and...
linoleum, and the apartment was ill-prepared for our move in. We're pretty low maintenance tenants, so we just had them fix the issues that should've been taken care of before move in and moved along.

After a couple weeks, we noticed some sort of security system beeping from the side of the clubhouse. It would beep every 7 seconds (we timed it) until someone from management would turn it off. It would go for days until someone went to the main office and forced them to turn it off. Instead of taking care of the problem, they would turn it off and let it go off again in a couple days. After 4 months of living there I finally left a frustrated voicemail at 2 AM about it that finally ended the problem. They complained about my language in the voicemail, but the problem was FINALLY addressed because of it.

The straw that finally broke the camel's back was how management recently decided to charge me for a pet fee and rent that was never brought to our attention prior to signing. Even while talking about my dog to the leasing agent as i signed the lease, it never once came up that a $300 pet fee would be required. The only positive about the place was that it was cheap and, instead of them acknowledging their own mistakes of not charging me initially, they felt it was appropriate to charge me during the holiday season.

I'm sure they plan to leave the same tired "we're sorry for your terrible experience with us" response they have sent to me in emails and every response that they have left on these reviews, but I want to let everyone who reads this know not to sign here. Just save yourself the trouble. It's an average complex with terrible management in the middle of nowhere. Find a place closer to wherever you work or go to school and save yourself the trouble.

Long story short, don't live here. Hope this helps.

The "NEW" Monroe is EXCEPTIONAL!

First let me say do not believe the negative reviews, the new management and the refurbished complex is exceptional. I have lived here for four months and have had nothing but positive experiences. The management is responsive and professional. Sommer and Olivia are awesome! They always have time to address a concern or just a friendly chat. They make stopping in the office a pleasure every time! The maintenance staff is outstanding, especially Alan. Every time I requested help in my... apartment it was taken care of within the hour. They are terrific! The finishes in my three bedroom unit are better than what you would expect in any apartment, stainless steel appliances, new washer and dryer, and fashionable fixtures and flooring. All in all, The Monroe is an excellent, well-managed community. 10 minutes from FSU and TCC, and about 15 minutes to FAMU. If you are looking for a great, SAFE, friendly community, you will find it at The Monroe!

worst apartment complex in Tallahassee

One of the worst apartment complex in Tallahassee, after they renovated in 2018, they increased the rent and there are some hidden fee that they will not put in their website. Once you decided to stay and sign the lease there it comes the surprise, Roofing fee, View fee [even if your room/apartment/unit is not near the sqimming pool] and other hidden fee...There is only one trash compactor and if your unit is far from the leasing office, take your car and go. There are many other negative bout... this apartment, i just listed few.
