Read if you want to know the truth about The Links:
I'll go ahead and paint a picture of what living in one of these apartments looks like. The AC units in this complex may be the same ones they had when they built the place 40 years ago. Our AC unit could not keep our apartment under 80 degrees and we spent on average $150 a month for a ONE bedroom loft apartment. And its not just the AC, its the terrible insulation and windows. After 5 maintenance requests of asking for a solution we finally gave up. When talking to other residents at The... Links it seemed that this was a universal problem. If you like to sweat year 10 months out of the year this is the place for you.
The staff and maintenance workers were actually kind and helpful, but this absolutely does not apply to the two managers on site. The move out charges of over $450 that we received were never once communicated to us in person, over the phone, or even an email. We simply received a bill in the mail a month later with no explanation at all which was after our final walk through. I am not disputing the legitimacy of these charges what so ever, however after doing a walk through with the manager I was told our final bill would be a $50 cleaning fee and if for some reason this were to change I would be contacted directly to discuss the reasoning. Never heard from her again. This bill had no due date on it whatsoever and nothing was communicated to us. As I was actively submitting weekly payments on this charge through the apartment portal as the bill stated, they sent our charge to collections, only one month after we moved out, and again with no communication or warning. To add a little more context to this, I was never once even a day late on a single rent payment for two years. And they send my move out charges to collections a month after leaving. The lack of communication by the general manager is enough to earn a 1 star review on all apartment finding platforms that are available.
When I called to discuss I was met with a retaliating assistant manager who thought yelling was the best course of action to handle a confused former customer. The unprofessionalism of the management in this apartment complex is repulsive and I write this to send a clear warning to those who are attracted by the nice area that this apartment in located in. Look elsewhere, with the money you'll spend on trying not to pass out from a heat stroke each month you can find a much better apartment in a similar area.
