Concerns for Future Renters to Consider
I hate feeling so negative right now, but I just want any future residents to understand that you will not get your security deposits back. I spoke to the manager for an explanation on why even though my unit was pristine, what they found wrong. They found find very small dings in the walls and floors that you really have to be looking for something to find. I went through that apartment looking for anything and couldn't find them before leaving, and they claimed that they were there with photos... . They say they expect normal wear and tear, but I apparently left some "grime" inside the oven? I did a self clean on the oven and scrubbed it but I was told it didn't meet their "move in ready" standard. I only lived in the apartment about half the time because I travel for work so the place was barely used. Yet I still cleaned the place like a professional, pulling out the stove and refrigerator to get under and behind them, and they still charged me a $135 cleaning fee. I do not think there is enough you can do to meet the expectations they have set for your move out.
I paid my rent in time or early every month, never complained even though my heat was broken the first few weeks I was there, fixed my own a/c unit when maintenence never came, and even came to ask them to explain everything needed and expected for my departure. I was told my unit looked great by one of the staff.
Also know that the walls are very thin. I could hear the TV and music playing in the unit below me and I could also hear the neighbors next to me having sex which. I felt bad for them that they didn't have their privacy. I ran into another neighbor who agreed that she could hear everything her neighbors were doing. Yes, you can be heard in the bathroom at times.
The staff was nice and the units looked great so I thought everything was going so well. It's just sad that society and big corporations such as this are still in it for the money, not the community. I fully respect the details of running a business, but those that leave trashed units and skip out on rent should be the targets not those who are doing their best to be good tenants. I'm not disgruntled, I'm just frustrated that I have my very best and it wasn't good enough.
