A small decent apartment
I'm a former tenant so I'll give my honest review.
Let's first mention the size of the apartments. The apartment units at that building are somewhat small compared to most apartments. I believe all of the apartments have just one bedroom and one bathroom each. So its more suitable for single people and couples who have no kids. And for people who don't have a lot of things because there's very little storage space there.
Parking is pretty good there. You'll have an easy time finding parking... spots on the street most of the time.
The building is owned by Pangea. They have maintenance guys there to keep the premises tidy. And if you have problems with plumbing, appliances, or anything, you can easily call Pangea and set up a time to get it fix free of charge. The neighbors seemed to have a good relationship with the maintenance guy there. I know I did.
Now, the block that the building is on is nice and quiet all year long. However, if you go a couple of blocks further, the area is not so friendly. The building is located in the Burnside neighborhood. There's not so many nice things I can say about that area. If you're used to living in the 'hood', then that area won't seem so bad.
Right behind the building is a train track that's just passed the bushes and trees, right on top of the hill. Cargo trains and the Metra train goes by, and they're not loud at all. My main problem was that when a train guys by and I'm watching TV, it messes with the TV antenna signal. If you have cable, you won't have that problem. And since the building is right next to the train track, I had a few coyote sightings in the back yard. The coyote usually avoid people when they see them but pet owners with small dogs better beware.
My biggest problem about the apartment when I was living there was the pesky mice problems. After talking with the neighbors, it seemed like the whole building has that problem, at least when I was there. So if you're interested in moving there, owning a cat won't be such a bad idea.
