good for the price but very loud

This building has fantastic maintenance staff. The 1 bedroom I have is a good size, and the kitchen and bathroom were recently updated. Property management is pretty responsive as well. However if you are sensitive to sound though as I am, this is not the building for you. The floors and ceilings and walls are very thin and creaky. If you live below a heavy walker, you will hear their literal every move.

Very happy

The place is in a great location, the maintenance staff is super friendly! And I like that they clean the building almost every morning, they mop the floors and dust in the entry way and laundry room.

655 W Grace

So close to Lake Shore and the red line. Fully renovated with granite countertops, hardwood floors, updated kitchen and bathroom. Great neighborhood with tons of things to do in the area. The management is very helpful. The common areas are always well maintained.

It's compact, but you'll fit

I have a small studio unit. It's exactly enough space to fit everything I need, but not much else. Things are well kept and there are monthly checks for pest control, of which I have never experienced a problem. The place was well kept when I moved in with a few notable Xs. A broken microwave was left for me to throw away, and there was no smoke detector installed. Heat was paid for in the winter, but I left it off because the room was so well insulated it maintained the extreme heat from the... hallway nicely. Not a bad apartment by any means, but clearly a classic Chicago over-price.
The complex has seen some days. Things are clean painted to look nice. The elevator interior was recently remodeled but could use an upgrade in the machinery before its cosmetics. Nothing dangerous, but you can't push 4 until the door shuts all the way. There's not easy way to contact a maintenance man aside from through your landlord. Otherwise I'd have mentioned that two of the 6 paid dryers are in need of repairs.
The neighborhood is very friendly and welcoming. At not time does it feel dangerous and there are a lot of things to do, or easy ways to travel. I don't hate this place, but I will not be renewing my lease hoping to find a better place for the same price.
