Pros and Cons
I've lived at Sheridan Shores for 13 months now. Like every apartment, it has its pros and cons:
Pros:
1. Access to the lake, parks, CTA routes, restaurants, and Lake Shore Dr.
2. Quiet and charming street and area
3. Maintenance and cleaning staff are excellent
4, Communication from Group Fox is very good
5. The floors are original real hardwood, the kitchen and bathrooms are still modern,
6. I have A LOT of closet space to hide my stuff
7. I haven't seen insects in my apartment
8. The... building is very pet friendly, and I see a lot of cute dogs
9. Neighbors are nice and trustworthy
10. The elevator is always working
11. The lobby had some fairly recent small updates
12. I feel very safe where this apartment is located
Cons:
1. Residents pay all utilities, but Group Fox advertises that heat, water, and trash are covered - they actually incorporate the fees on top of your monthly rent. Fees average from $40-80 for a studio.
2. The walls and floors are thin. I can smell cigarette smoke from my neighbor's apartment. I had a former neighbor upstairs whose music I could easily hear.
3. The laundry room can be a tad battle at times of trying to share washers - Sundays are generally the busy days.
4. Two out of five dryers are generally glitching and not working; however, three working ones still seem to be enough for the building.
5. My apartment itself needed several maintenance requests when I moved in - broken dishwasher, oven didn't work, and a few minor problems in the bathroom. But maintenance was quick to respond!
6. Parking is available but very pricey (in my opinion)
7. My apartment is almost always hot. I rarely had the heating on in the winter, and I would still run the A/C.
I'd give it...3.8/5 stars.
