DEKALB PERSON NEVER IN OFFICE.

I am actually writing this about Huskie Ridge in Dekalb, owned by the same management. Properties are nice for a college town. the lady in the office is never in there. Noone ever answers the phone. the hours says Monday to Friday 9-5 but you have to catch her when ever she feels like being there. I have been trying to get in contact with them for over 2 MONTHS! left voicemails no call back. after countless times of going to the office to it saying "open" but the doors locked and knocking no one... answers. I decided to go to another landlord, but just wanted to notify someone about their Dekalb Manager.

Horrible Company

Do not live here. Lived there for two years, as to why we resigned, I have no idea! Maintenance never happens. They refused to ever replace a door in the apartment that had a big hole (that was there since before we moved in) in it because it was a closet door. Never patched a hole in the wall, which once again was there since before we moved in. A maintenance worker literally laughed at us because we asked for some things to be fixed, including the above and asking for a new microwave because... the one that was in the apartment had paint chipping off and was covered in rust on the inside.

They could care less about tenant happiness and safety. We had DRUG DEALERS living across the hall from us. Between us and a 2 others tenants, the police were called over a dozen times in 4 months. Landlord refused to evict them. Only reason that tenant moved, is because that tenant complained about being unhappy, so the landlord moved them to another building. And we were in the same building as the leasing office. The office staff is unprofessional. Have seen them drinking and partying in front of the leasing office on the lawn. Have also caught them drinking during the day. The office is also often closed during the day, impossible to get a hold of in person or by phone.

The company cannot manage finances either. They never do background or credit checks. I was once told by office staff that they were currently in court for 10 tenants due to evictions for not paying rent. They are in financial ruins. We got a month of late fees ($60 - charged $2/day) when we all paid on time, all because the owner has to approve any electronic payments and was out of the country for a month. Took 2 months to clear that up. I swear I was down there once a week trying to fix our account for the majority of the two years we lived there. They lose payments all the time, have to keep track of what you pay to prove that you paid. Moved out 4 months ago, still have yet to receive a deposit. Never can get a hold of them about it, and when I can they say they'll call back later. I've probably called a dozen times in the last 2 weeks, got a hold of them once. Last "real" answer I got was 3 months ago when they said it would take another 1-2 months to get it approved. Legally they have to return deposits within 30 days, or provide an itemized list of damages. Also continued to charge us for rent for MONTHS after our lease said we were supposed to stop paying. Absolutely ridiculous.

Worst! (0 stars really)

Please avoid this apartment at all cost. It really is the worst leasing management (and I come from a 3rd world country!). You will never receive your security deposit. I am aware they are about to or currently being sued by a group of former tenants. They ignore phone calls and never reply emails which is funny because if you are late with rent by a single day, you are hit with late fees. Truly terrible experience. I am yet to come across a former tenant that had a positive experience.

We will sue the management

I will give them negative feedback if I can !!!!

During my living in their apartment, their managenment is totally a mess, nothing gets fixed in time. When my contract expired, their employer came into my house and gave me a promise that I can get my deposit back within one month. Now it's more than one year has past. I tried to contact them using the email address that I used to contact the landlord, getting zero reponse, when you go to their office and ask about the returning of your deposit,...
their staff gonna tell you they can do noting about the returing and just throw you an e-mail address which is the never-answering address.

After discussing with several friends who have same problem, we decide to sue them.

Just remind the person who has same problem, it is the law that your property either return your deposit or give you the suitable reason why they don't. If you're a student, you can ask help from the shool.

-5 stars, the landlord is a bad person

1. Make sure you have a RELIABLE roommate or your experience will be financially/Legally exhausting.

2. THEY DON'T DO BACKGROUND CHECKS so ANYBODY can rent here basically.

3. The management will LIE constantly to get you off their back so any problems you have will rarely be fixed.

4. Landlord is NEVER around so all communication will mainly go through whoever is running the office at that time.

5. Make sure you keep ALL DOCUMENTATION and RECORDS of payments and financial documentation...
because they WILL LOSE EVERYTHING.

This company is financially struggling and will do everything in their power to suck money from their tenants.
