"Luxury" with caveats

Central Station is a “green living” and “luxury” rental option in name only. Claiming itself as as “your new luxury address”, new renters should inquire and ask questions.

For a LEED certified building, there are not timers/motion sensors on the common place lights, the computers in the leasing office are consistently illuminated after closing, the TVs in the gym are always on despite anyone being in the room, and there are not easily accessible recycling options (i.e., why is there only a...
trash shoot, but not one for recycling?).

Yes, the finishes in the apartment are on the “higher end” (e.g., dark/tall cabinets, stone counters, LVT floors); however, maintenance requests are addressed in 4-5 days on average; it’s difficult to get your name into the lobby call box; you could be given a spot in the auxiliary parking garage (which isn’t communicated to you at the time of renting); the closets are not built for stability; and the promoted “cyber cafe” is not user friendly, nor maintained.

Yes, there are package lockers and dry cleaning lockers…but in my opinion, Central Station fails to provide the “luxury” or convenience options to residents that support its brand.

These amenities and services may be fine for many; however, if RMK Management hitches its brand to “luxury” and charges a premium price in the area, I would expect a different level of service.

I'm really happy here

Kevin in the leasing office is awesome. He made everything super-easy and is always friendly and helpful. My unit faces south, so I get lots of sun, and I have a view of trees. The unit itself is big with a very nice kitchen. It's really quiet, and I know all of my neighbors by name. You can't beat the location - it's half a block to Metra, in a nice neighborhood, close to a golf course with great lessons (I'm finally hitting straight!), and on a quaint street with lots of nice restaurants and... shops within walking distance. The football stadium is across the street, and there's a beach and a lighthouse at the end of the street. How can you beat that? I ride my bike all the time through the sculpture park and along the lakefront at the university. It's easy to get to the highway, too.

Maintenance is Abysmal

Dishwasher was completely destroyed when I moved in, and there were massive stains on the carpet. Nothing was done about the carpet, and it took multiple requests over a week, multiple visits by the worthless maintenance guy, and literally sitting in front of the manager for hours, plus multiple calls to corporate and a negative review with the Better Business Bureau to get the dishwasher repaired. Meanwhile, I was told that I was taking the worthless maintenance guy away from getting two... apartments ready for move-in (even though my move-in preceded theirs) and NO ONE apologized. Oh, yeah, and there were other issues at move-in, but the worthless maintenance guy blew them off as unimportant. Nice.
