Uninformative, Unfriendly, Inconsistent, and Overpriced

After new management took over, there are hidden fees tacked onto EVERYTHING. We are in the process of moving out (not for the reasons listed, but it’s feeling more and more like that is why), and they have made the move out process almost impossible. Legal documents have so many inconsistencies on what needs to be taken care of and even with emails and phone calls, their responses have (ironically) been consistent with excuses. One individual told my husband that we were good to go and could... just pay the termination fee - we had no issue paying a fee as we have moved before our lease. Low and behold when we signed paperwork to finalize, we were told that we were “misinformed” and that it would be two months rent + a termination fee. When expressing our frustration we were told that there isn’t anything to be done and that the first person we talked to “must not have known.” Poor management and inconsistent rules. The parking situation SUCKS. If my husband and I are both paying rent, we should both be able to park in front of our building. Neither one of us should be shunned to the guest lot. However, tenets in our building have been parking multiple cars without repercussions, yet we received a warning (3 and you’re out) for parking overnight. Aesthetically with the new painting it looks updated and cute, but don’t waste your money.

Outdated and Overpriced.

New Management keeps raising rent and tacking on multiple hidden fees. It wouldn't bother me as much if they would do something to improve the apartments or parking situation. All these fees seem to just go to the new management's pocket. Can't wait to leave.

Over-Priced, Poor Quality.

Hidden fees and sub-par quality. Terrible parking policy and vandalism to multiple vehicles since we moved in. Do not recommend.

New management is awful

This was a terrific place to live until new management took over. They immediately raised rent saying we have to pay water and sewer with rent now. Also, they say that we have to start placing trash outside our doors in a designated container, which will be mandatory upon renewal of lease. Some of my neighbors already leave their trash outside their door and not only does it block the pathway, it also attracts pests. Additionally, our pool has been closed down. They say it is due to covid delta... variant, but my guess it’s because they are painting the exterior of the apartments and want to save money on maintenance of the pool. Finally, maintenance used to be responsive and prompt before the takeover, now, who knows when they will come repair your request.

New Management Sucks!

I loved Barton Farms up until recently when they were bought out. The new management significantly raises the rent and does nothing to improve the experience for its residents. They painted the exterior of the buildings which does nothing for the residents but make them pay for it through the increased fees.

The huge increase in rent is just shocking. It is normal to see an annual increase in rent up to around 3-5% or $50 per month. When I saw my renewal rate was almost $100 more per month, I...
knew it was time to leave. That's a 10% increase from last year which is just totally unacceptable. Especially since they have done NOTHING to improve our unit or even the community amenities.

They do not perform routine pest control which has led to a huge problem with spiders and house centipedes. The appliances are seriously outdated and AC/air handler is too small or too old to keep up in the summer without freezing over. We have had numerous issues with leaks. Thankfully, the maintenance folks have always been super quick to address issues. It just seems that instead of spending the money to solve the problem, the office would rather keep putting band aids on the actual issue and have it keep causing problems for us.

The parking situation is also a nightmare. Regardless of whether you are in a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment, you are only allowed 1 car to park up front. Spots are not assigned, so there are never any spots available. When I asked about whether they had plans to address the poor parking plan, the manager at the time was disrespectful and literally laughed at me and said it wasn't a priority for her.

So far, every single month since the new management took over I have had a $50 "late fee" pop up onto my account for no reason. I have had to call each month to have them remove it. I have been told it is a "system glitch", but can't help but wonder if it is just another way they're trying to screw us over to rack in the $$$. From a financial perspective, Barton Farms sucks...
