5700 Madison Apartments & Edgewood on Madison

I am going to have to tell you to avoid this one. I just moved out. I lived there for 4 years. The apartment itself is decent, quieter than most, but still had a number of problems.

Things break often but for the most part it will be fixed in 1 day to 2 weeks. Additional, more permanent, problems were weird leaks from the faucet, water that was never hot, a dishwasher that kept flooding the kitchen ( Maintenance said it should be replaced-- it wasn't), and hard water that damaged my clothes... (that might be a county wide problem).

The major problem, however, is management. They are nice, but it takes a while to hear back from them or you have to track them down which is inconvenient to say the least. Sometimes on time-sensitive matters they wouldn't get back to me until one day before a due date and then refused to provide an extension in regard to fees because corporate controlled fees. I would ask for the number to corporate and be denied.

Frequently the answer to outlandish fees was that it was out of their hands and they don't allow you to speak with the person in control of those fees.

But the major reason to avoid this property is a 75$/day charge if you leave your trash bin outside after 9:00 am. Yes, you read that right, per day. Don't over sleep, don't return from a night shift late. I started dropping my trash myself, but I'm still charged for the VIP trash service that I can't use.

Our initial experience was great. The staff was friendly and the apartments are nice enough, but when it came time to break our lease for a job relocation, our experience was nothing short of terrible. I had seen reviews from other pet owners on how they were charged ridiculous amounts after moving out for cleaning fees, but since we’ve never had a problem at any other apartment complex we’ve lived in, I thought we would be okay. We spent 2 days making sure the apartment was... spotless and had rented a carpet cleaner to go “above and beyond”. My surprise came a week later when I got a bill for cleaning and when I asked for an explanation, there ridiculous accusations with no picture proof…that of which I asked for picture proof over email and on the phone several times and was denied every time. My advice, stay away from here if you have pets, or at least stay to do the final walk through with them…if you don’t, expect them to make up anything they have to to keep your deposit and charge you more on top of that. Elizabeth was great. She was helpful, friendly, informational, and professional during the application process. As a result, I'm confident I found the right living conditions in Indy. Moving from out of state I was put at ease once I saw the apartment and it's surroundings.

I am so glad I stumbled upon these apartments. The front office is super nice and helpful. I appreciate how well they take care of the landscaping too!!!

The location is awesome. Super close to the city and close to my school. Also, the staff is super friendly and helpful. I love it here so far!
