Great Location, Great Service

I've lived here for a little over a year and have loved my experience so far! The location, steps away from Target and other shops, is great and saves me extra driving after work. There's also a lot of restaurants, so I don't always have to cook dinner if I don't want to. I also really appreciate the resident events offered every month. I don't go to all of them, but the ones I've made it to, like yoga in the courtyard, a paint and sip class, and plant potting have been really fun! Sometimes,... there's even little surprise activities like cookies and hot chocolate in the Lobby. I can sometimes hear my neighbors, but have never had issues with loud noise and most people are friendly. The maintenance guys and folks in the office have always been professional, polite, and helpful. The price is a little high, but so is everything around here. I've had no big issues and would recommend the community to other folks looking for a safe and well-maintained apartment in the area.

Its okay

Its an okay place to stay. Its comfortable the common spaces are well maintained. Walls and ceiling are thin. Loud noise in the apartment buildings, as well as music from the parking lot. Management wasn't able to address the marijuana smoke in the building, unfortunately the smell goes into neighboring apartments.
There are also a lot of mistakes with billing but it's a nice location.

FANTASTIC experience

I moved here about a month ago and I am blown away. The entire process has been awesome. From the initial visit to the move to the settling in period... it's been great. The staff is so friendly and pleasant. The maintenance staff is so attentive. This is resort living at it's finest. They even have valet trash pickup. 4 stars and an A from me. I would definitely recommend living here.

Overall Nice

My husband & I moved into the Beacon in February 2015. My husband was pleased with the space, the area and is sad to leave it. He feels the management company is quite good at what they do. The location is what made him love it, and the maintenance staff was phenomenal.
The price for the space was a bit lopsided. We installed our own ceiling fans mostly due to the fact with the way the kitchen and windows were set up, if you don't have the windows wide open and the fans on when you cook there is...
a pretty high chance you would set off the fire alarms. Awesome that they are so sensitive, less awesome when you first move in and have no idea that will happen.
Our property management team changed twice I believe during our two years at the Beacon. I quite liked our first team and the last was - they were a bit awkward to speak to? I always felt a little judged, when I spoke to them one on one.
For military E-4 and below this will push your BAH, so maybe try a different property or get a roommate you really like. It is also frustrating to get management to work with you on the 30 days notice for a PCS, they need your orders and this can get hairy when orders or late or come wrong and you don't have an extension on your RNLTD. A notification of assignment will not be accepted for the 30 days notice keep that in mind if this is your 1st Maryland assignment.
It was frustrating for us because we had trouble with the TMO shipment dates and ended up going beyond our intended move out - but did in fact inform the management team the moment the issue came to us.We were worried we'd have no time to clean, it was implied that it would be more convenient for them if we left the same day we were moved - and you need to make sure the apartment goes back to them as close as humanly possible to the way you got it. The list of charges for an uncleaned/damaged apartment were kind of intense. More intense to me than that of a military property. Blake did work with us to extend two days beyond our original move out date but it was just a tense and thankfully short period of time where it was schrodingers move out date.
We often heard our upstairs neighbor's child and/or pet but other than that there wasn't any issue for us in that respect. I've had more problems with noise in shared military housing than we did here.
All in all the Beacon was a good temporary home for us, but I don't think we'll be going back when we return from our current assignment.

A place i can finally call home

This is a great place if you're looking to live between Baltimore and DC with an easy access to Annapolis. I have moved to 3 different apartments in the Bowie area for 4 years and i can truly say that in those apartments, i always felt like i was never in the right place till i got to the Beacon at Waugh Chapel. The fact that the apartment is in a mall makes it even more awesome. Easy access to the movies, restaurants, grocery stores, and clothing stores. The staffs here are absolutely marvelous... . From day 1, they made sure my move in was with ease, no hassle and they were/are so understanding to my demands and needs. This is absolutely a friendly neighborhood, something i have been longing for. This apartment complex matches my criteria in every way, it is lively during the day and at night and to think it would be a noisy area but it actually is a peaceful and quiet area. This is an apartment i fully recommend, this is my apartment and i can finally say that this is my home.
