Apt manager is the rudest I experienced in USA. It was my 6th apt.
When we moved out, I was charged 550$ for one inch bleech stain. He says needs to change entire hall carpet for that, and the one in bedroom as well, since they need to match! Also, there was a vague rectangular rug mark in the kitchen, which is normal. He says it is a burn mark from us opening the oven door for a long... time(?? )& charged us 240$ for the vinyl. We stayed there 2.5 years & paid rent on time. We gave move out notice 45 days ahead and manager agreed we can pay 6 days rent for Oct. I canceled the auto payment on their portal after September's rent was taken. I called and double checked. But on Oct 1st, full month's rent was taken from my account, which I didn't notice at that time. On Oct 5, 6 we packed and cleaned the apt. We couldn't give the key on Oct 6, 2019 (Sunday) before their office closed. We gave keys on Monday morning right after their office opened and left to Rochester. Manager then calls and tells us about the carpet and Vinyl, which was surprising. He told us to go back and that we were supposed to vacate on October 4. When we showed him the form, he changed his line. He said I need to pay extra day's (Oct 7) rent, to which I agreed. He returned the original check I gave for 6 days. He calls us again and tells if I don't pay him the extra day's rent that day itself, he'll charge us full month's rent, which was a low level tactic. I was already late for work due to driving back and forth & didn't have the check book with me. I went to the bank, paid 8$ and got a cashier's check. He tells that rent will be calculated for 7 days on the basis of 30 days instead of 31 days (extra 6$ tip money from me). I gave him the check & later that day, I find out that whole month's rent was already taken. He tells shamelessly that I need to drive back again to his office and get my cashier's check which he didn't cash. I was furious. I told him he asked for it unnecessarily and told him to send it to my new address. The agent then sends it on Oct 9 to my address without apt number. It has not come yet. I went to my current apartment manager and to post office. I called them back on Oct 12. The lady says she didn't put my apt number. On Oct 14 the manager tells never to call them again! 3 weeks and counting. Just horrible, on top of taking my 790$.
