The Saum & Hutcheson Arms Apartments

I made the mistake of moving into Saum a few months ago and have been met with nothing but issues. The elevator didn’t work when I got there and is apparently almost always broken. Maintenance not only hasn’t responded to the issues I submitted in my first week, they’re almost always intoxicated when they’re working. The property management company will cut your utilities if you’re late on rent (which is illegal) and is extremely disrespectful in any interaction. Mail is unsecured and constantly... being stolen, management feels the need to come into your unit without you present on an almost weekly basis with less than 24 hour notice (also illegal), and the hot water barely works. I’ve now lived at the Hutcheson Arms for two years. The only reason I have stayed is because of money problems and the apartment is cheap. The Hutcheson Arms is by far the worst apartment I’ve ever lived in. Along with that it also has the worst property manager I’ve ever dealt with. Evette Townsend is her name. She is the typical slum lord. She sends out mass emails insulting, threatening and blaming the tenants and not much else other than collecting rent. Never once has Townsend ever sent out... an email about upgrades to the building. The building has gotten progressively worse the longer I’ve lived here. The maintenance team enters people’s apartments without notice. I’ve had numerous issues that took months to resolve with maintenance knowing about the issue. I’ve had constant water damage in my bathroom. My toilet was once broken for months. Right now, I have a hole above my bathtub due to maintenance people being in my apartment when they had no cause to be and gave no notice. The property manager has lied to try to conceal them being in my apartment when they shouldn’t have been. I strongly discourage anyone from moving to the Hutcheson Arms. It is a rat hole. This place is awful. The management sucks, the maintenance sucks. I have had issues with my wall and all maintenance has done is give me the run around. It has been two weeks now no one has come. I had a tuck point problem on the exterior of my unit and my interior wall is bubbling up, wet, yellow and falling apart. No one has done a single thing to help. I’ve been emailing maintenance back and forth for 2 weeks now and all they say is “we will follow up with our technician and keep you updated”... it’s an endless loop. Elevator works half the time. Here’s the story. I was shown a nice apartment unit and I put a booking fee down (i understand this is non refundable but this place was just awful I wish it was). I get sent a lease and I asked if I could see the apartment one more time before I sign the lease to make sure I really want this and they said okay. I WAS SHOWN A DIFFERENT UNIT- with a mouse in a trap, mold and leak in the ceilings, damaged walls and floor boards, AND NO TOILET? AND I CANT GET A REFUND? Horrible experience, A NIGHTMARE, The Loud Imprudent, BANGING from CONSTRUCTION /Maintenance team ,Nothing is EVER finished , Construction men Roaming around the building yelling, Blasting music, smoking marijuana in rooms ,hanging out in hallways as if it's a Party and REAL actual people don't live here will leave you feeling uneasy and Perturbed when they're supposed to be WORKING and getting the job DONE.but nothing is never finished just Alot of banging .....no hot Water, No...
