Beware

I rarely write reviews and am not difficult to please, but this place is shady. My apartment was filthy when I moved in. I reported the issue but was too polite about it since the manager seemed so nice. In the end, big lesson learned for me because despite my attempts to clean, it really needed a professional, deep cleaning and I was held responsible for all the minor details that had been there upon move in. I left the place in better shape than I'd received it, nonetheless. There is also a... roach problem there and management will pretend like you're the first to report it. Their spray doesn't help. The only thing this place really has going for it are balconies and the location. My advice: If you're going to move in, take lots of pictures and report Everything (anything missing, anything uncleaned, anything broken), no matter how petty it seems.

Not worth the price

The best thing about this place is the location. And for a while the prices were good for Durham, but the rates went up significantly in the last year, and it’s not worth it. My apartment is cold and poorly insulated. It’s very cold in the winter and my energy bills are sky high. When I first moved in, there was a bad cockroach problem that thankfully seems to have gone away. My neighbors are loud and it doesn’t help that I can literally hear everything in the neighboring units (conversations... above a whisper, steps, music). The appliances are cheap and rickety. People leave trash in the hallways and parking lot. The common areas hardly ever get swept. It feels dumpy. The new owner has made some cosmetic changes, but you’re better off somewhere else.

Anderson apartments

I don't think we would have found this place if it hadn't been for their pet policy, they don't really advertise. I needed somewhere i could bring my old pitbull, and 95% of apartments in the area have breed restrictions, and found Trinity on about my 20th google search. *This should not put off people a little phobic of larger breeds, i have only seen very responsible pet owners here, and dogs are always well behaved, leashed and cleaned up after.* A little more than we were hoping to pay in... rent, but well worth it for what you get.
We have been here for about 3 months now, and so far really enjoying it. The buildings are older, but have nice wooden floors and new appliances, and feel like they have a little more character than some other newer apartments.
The complex is small and quiet, and feels very safe. I walk my dogs alone at night and feel fine, although i probably wouldn't go too far down Anderson as there aren't any street lights. The residents are all grad students, young professionals, couples etc. It is an amazing location honestly, we are close to everything. 5 mins to downtown, coffee shops, grocery stores, and walking distance to a park, a trail, duke gardens and the art museum. Swanky! We lived in North Durham for 2 years prior to this, and in just 3 months have been to way more places around town, because they are so close.
The kitchen in our 2 bedroom is a little small, but we don't cook much. This might be an issue for a couple that likes to cook together. For cooking alone, it's fine.
The only downside really so far is noise from upstairs. Like in most apartments, you can hear very clearly when people are moving around if they are heavy footed. However, I met my upstairs neighbor and mentioned that sometimes he would wake me up walking around in the mornings (I work nights and sleep til pretty late) and he was super cool about it and I haven't heard him in the bedroom since. You can hear moving around etc in the living areas but honestly after a while you don't even notice it.
The only other slightly inconvenient thing is they don't have an auto draft or online option for rent. You have to mail it, or drop by their office, which is offsite.
So yeah, pretty darn happy with our choice.
