Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover

Three and a half years later, moving to 800 St. Mary's at 30% occupancy, having made it through all of their "growing pains," in a poorly built building and adjusting to at least five management turnovers , living at this "business" has come to an end for these retirees. There will only be a few of the original community folks remaining, which is sad. We fought hard and tried to assist with many things; in particular having a secure building (at least a few security cameras and fobbed... doors to enter garage accessed stairwells.) If you need management, you will have to go to 600 St. Mary's. No one covers the lobby desk at 800. Unfortunately, the day has come when our quality of life; physically and mentally (as well as extensive financial losses) has proven to be of no concern to New Regional Management (they will insist otherwise.) and we can no longer live under these circumstances. Have your Unit checked/verified in writing (whatever you have to do before moving with your personal belongings) that it is free of any and all types of carpet beetles, carpet moths and clothing moths and further, any part of their life cycle. We never knew what they were and feel their larvae that can live up to three years will be haunting us forever. We were not advised of this problem that existed in a unit above us six months prior to our infestation. We would have appreciated knowing what to look for. We are leaving with nowhere to call home to date, and considered 70 year old liars because management "went over, above and beyond" providing three visits (no longer than five minutes each) with CRC's existing Exterminating Contractors whom denied we have Carpet Beetles after the initial treatment May, 2024. To date, no one has opened a closet, cabinet, etc., to find the source. The greatest comment thus far was from the Exterminator as he entered the last week of August... that if we did not have carpet, we could not have Carpet Beetles. Our antique area rugs have been disposed of, but the Exterminator was standing on a 5'x7' wool rug in our unit's entry foyer when making the comment. Carpet Beetles will devour clothing, leather, upholstery, bedding. AND, if we don't have carpet beetles as the Professional Exterminators have stated, could they investigate as to what bug is destroying our lives? We're too old to be treated with such disrespect as to be denied a visit from management to see how we've been living (not living) for over four months.

St Mary’s is a poorly constructed building. I have huge cracks going down my walls. I can see into the wall in my bedroom. The maintenance request to fix all of the cracks was put on hold months ago. One window still has the purchase stickers on it. Locks, elevator, gates constantly break in the building and the owners astronomically increase rents without adding any amenities or fixing the current issues. The garage flooded during a storm and they never notified the residents about it and... multiple cars were damaged. It took them a week to pump the water out. Also only one car per unit is allowed to park in the parking garage so if you live with someone hopefully they don’t have a car.

We love our apartment at 800 St. Marys. The light is extraordinary, the high ceilings throughout create a roomy feel, the kitchen is nicely appointed with excellent work space, the balcony is spacious and useful, and the building is quiet and peaceful. The location is fantastic with lifes conveniences all within easy reach. And, the proximity to the local arts and dining scene is unmatched.
