I lost my heat in the middle of the winter. Thankfully, the maintenance man gave me a space heater which helped but increased my electric bill. My apartment got down to 55 degrees. I also do not have air conditioning and it's currently 88 degrees in my apartment. I had to purchase two small air conditioners and a fan...all out of my pocket. After many requests, from myself and NJ Housing, the property management company just ignores us. And I'm not the only tenant going through this. I have no... idea when or even if my heat/air will be fixed. Also, the lawn has not been cut since last year. The bugs and mosquitos are horrible!!! YOU DO NOT WANT TO LIVE HERE!!!!

No Air for 3 Years!!! Chose Anywhere Else!!
I moved my mother into this apartment complex almost 10 years ago, management has turned over at least 5x and the new management company is simply not responding to any maintenance messages. Last year I was told they were ordering a part for my mother’s central air unit, no-one answers or calls back when I call for an update (dozen of calls), and we’re in yet another heat wave. This is now at least the 3rd year she’ll go without air. Completely unacceptable for an “adult community” they need to... properly fix the central air system. You cannot have seniors living in a building with no air, not doing anything to address the issue, spend the money on parts and service and FIX it!!! Don’t move your loved one here, there are better options..

Heritage Village at Seabreeze, 1031 Newark Avenue, Forked River, NJ 08731
This apartment building is for people age 55-plus. I have been living here three years.
These apartments are in a great location: off a main street which contains many businesses (such as banks, groceries, doctors, salons, churches, restaurants, a library, etc.) Garden State Parkway North and South entrances and exits are 1/4 mile from the building, which I find to be very convenient and it makes directions simple for my visitors.
The building is attractive (new in 2011) and is located on a... quiet, dead-end street. I enjoy a lovely view from my terrace. For me, the terrace is a highlight of this apartment.
My one-bedroom apartment is carpeted, has a washer/dryer (my own), a full kitchen including a refrigerator, dishwasher and stove, a living room, a good-size bathroom, a bedroom, central a/c and mini-blinds. I have everything I need and find it to be very manageable and comfortable.
There are supervised social activities throughout the month such as luncheons, ice cream socials, exercise classes, crafts and health screenings; also holiday barbecues and parties, which, of course, are all optional. Personal gatherings that are too large for my apartment can be held on the first floor in a large community room. There is a kitchen there for tenants to use.
I have a car, but some people live here without a car. A bus comes twice a week for trips to Walmart and ShopRite. Because there is a huge parking lot out front, parking is never a problem. The grounds are plowed and salted in snowy/ icy weather. Our maintenance man lives in the building, and whenever I have had maintenance issues, he responded within the hour.
Small dogs and cats are allowed. The building is wheelchair-accessible and contains some wheelchair-accessible apartments. Each of the three floors has a laundry room, a trash room and chute, a library, and two elevators.
I feel safe and happy here. I like that I have complete freedom but I am not alone. And I love my apartment.
