Stay Away -- Far Away
As of a few years now there is no super/property manager living on the property and the prior super let the building go so it's literally a sad structure of rot and despair. The current "super" comes in 1-2 times per month but blink and you'll miss him. There is trash everywhere -- especially around the limited parking areas. Currently most of the apartments are being shared by 3+ people living on a budget and many of them you really don't want to share a building with.
For over a month now, a... group of around 15 tenants blast music in the tiny parking lot behind the building, break glass bottles, urinate next to the parked cars, and party until 1-2AM. You call the police and they don't show even though they're stationed two blocks away. The building managers ignore the complaints as... well... they recognize that this building has gone down the drain but they will still increase rent the full 5% each year.
Other things to note:
- The building is 5-stories and there is a very small elevator that often traps people and/or is out of service.
- Many of the $100 garages are being used as storage units and about 7 of them just hold stuff the property managers in the past left there. The ones in the back have been broken into and there are usually people doing drugs there at night.
- There are cameras but the wires are dead.
- The hallway ceilings are falling apart.
- The carpets are filthy.
- The building has commissioned gardeners who barely trim the grass and I have them on video kicking bottles and other trash under tenant cars as they can't be bothered to do any sort of maintenance when they're mowing the grass.
- Most of the tenants are behind on rent and you'll see eviction notices constantly on the doors -- again, this is not a community of people you want to share lodging with.
I think this area of Linden is collapsing steadily and I advise folks who have the means to look elsewhere -- you don't need this drama.
