Unfit for living!!

Our apartment is am end unit and the entire end wall is full of mold caused by being built incorrectly on a swamp. Schermerhorn will only treat it with bleach and water. We have been using a dehumidifier 24/7 for almost 3 years-actually our first one died after a year and a half. We empty it 3-4 times per day in the summer months and almost daily during the winter yet we still need to use Damp Rid containers constantly as well. Also, these apartment windows are so poorly insulated that we not... only have to plastic them from October to April, but we get the fumes from our neighbors that smoke weed practically 24/7. These two issues are making me sick-constant headaches, dizziness, and nausea. We are finally moving out when our lease is up in December! I cannot take it anymore.

this community is simple, the floor plans are nice sizes. but seeing that I am from Arizona this was the closest thing that was like apartments back home and this was chosen to make the adjustment of the move a little more easier. plus it is pet friendly. Not a lot of place are here in NY.
the grounds are kept nice and clean, and in the winters, when the snow falls heavy they are out plowing the drives and streets. there are various locations with in the are, this one we chose has a one car...
garage and that was a bonus for storage and the driveway can park two vehicle.

DO NOT RENT FROM SCHERMERHORN HOLDINGS!

Schermerhorn Holdings are the biggest scams I hv ever encountered in my life! Upon moving out I hired their cleaning lady Peggy to clean the apt when she finished, I went to look at the apt, wasn't clean! So I took a bunch of pics & went to the office to be sure I wouldn't be charged for the dirtiness. The maintenance lady Colleen saw the pics said it was fine I wouldn't be charged bc I paid Peggy $100. Later on I get a phone call from Peggy (apparently she's Colleen's mom) screaming at me... saying Colleen told her that I said she did a lousy job. So I called Colleen & met her at the apt, ultimately ended up making sure I was not charged $100 to hv the place cleaned & was told I wouldn't be charged any money for the dirtiness. Colleen saw my apt & said it looked great, didn't seem to be any issues. Arizona Carpet (do not hire them, bc they do the carpets for Schermerhorn & will screw u) cleaned the carpets said everything was good & I went & took some pics, carpets looked amazing! This was on June 17th & I turned in my keys that day! On July 22 I get a phone call from Colleen, she tells me there is Dog Urine throughout the whole apt & all the carpeting needs to be changed, I do not hv a dog, so she says i can meet her & she'll show me. The tool is a "moisture detector" & she pokes the carpet with it, every in. of the carpet,beeps 4 times. I'm like it went off 4 times, that means u hv to change the whole carpeting, she says she never said that. So she says if its only a few spots we can treat them. Then she wants me to meet her again a few days later, & I tell her all the windows are open in the apt & its been raining for 2 days so its going to be damp. Colleen says this is the only day I can so I will see you then, so I go & apparently the carpet guy comes also. They both state several times (recorded) that the carpet has no stains or odors & it should be fine as long as someone isn't allergic to pets, but if u hv ever seen their lease u hv to sign saying that u understand they don't guarantee that any apt has been pet free, smoke free, or any other allergen. Then Colleen wants to meet a third time to do it again a few days later (even though she told me that was the only day she could do it) so at this point I tell her no, this is a waste of my time I have already met you before where it barely went off (urine doesn't dry if there's urine it'll go off every time) I'm not meeting you again, & charged me over $750 for new carpet.
