Convenience in Murray Hill
My wife and I were looking for a pet-friendly 1BR within walking distance to Grand Central (and within our budget). This building fit all those criteria, as well as some of our secondary requirements.
Building has 24-hour doorman and a live-in super. Staff were all very nice and helpful if issues arose (we had no maintenance issues in our unit in 2 years). Building has a small gym, which is free for residents. Building also has a laundry room and elevator.
Building is located at 36th and 2nd,... which lends to some traffic noise due to tunnel entrance, but it wasn't overpowering. Flip side of that is you're walking distance to many bars, restaurants, grocery stores, drug stores, subways, etc. There's a big park right across 2nd (basketball courts, large blacktop area, squash courts, large playground) as well.
Our unit had two in-wall A/C units (bedroom and main room). Unit had been updated with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances in kitchen, marble tile in bathroom. Quality of work was a little shoddy, but everything looked/worked just fine.
Overall, building is in a convenient location with decent amenities. It's nothing fantastic, but you could do a lot worse on the east side.
