Don't live here
I lived at The Approach for a year and regret every minute. My first month living here my apartment was flooded by the staff while draining the pool. Yes, they drained the entire pool into the bottom floor of Building 3. Not only did I, the resident, have to alert the staff to this happening (evidently no one was paying attention to where the water was actually going), but they also plugged every piece of equipment used in the clean up into MY apartment, which I then had to pay the electric bill... for. HAH! I never received an email, call or letter apologizing for the massive inconvenience they put me and my dog through for 2 days- classy and professional! Next, one of my packages was stolen from the community mail room where they have no cameras - smart. Valet trash pickup happens only sometimes, but don't worry, you'll pay the full monthly price whether it's picked up or not, smell included. Loud construction work across the street occurs from dusk until dawn and covers your balcony with nice blanket of dirt if you’re facing that side. Covered parking is over $80/month for a mostly empty garage. Every brand new appliance in my apartment stopped working at some point, including my AC, which was out for an entire week in July – maintenance does not “see” your emails sometimes. Contacting the main desk with a question? They might respond, but probably not. The electric will go out occasionally from anywhere between 1 to 12 hours – the record while I was there was 15 hours, in the winter. The surveys they send out for resident opinions? They don't read those. Actually, if you ask the staff about them, they'll act like they have no idea what those even are so don’t waste your time! Moving out? Good luck! They will do anything they can to make sure you pay an extra month or two worth of rent, plus double utility costs even though their buildings are half empty anyway! They don't acknowledge a reply to a formal written notice, sent by them via THEIR EMAIL, as the "official" notice of moving out. They claim to have no idea where that email even comes from, despite it being from THEIR email address! Extremely misleading. Show them proof? They don’t care, “it wasn’t from them”. Which leads me to my final point, document every interaction with these people in writing. Make them sign every written interaction you have so they can’t claim memory loss later on– I learned this the hard way. This place is a scam on all fronts, don’t live here. To The Approach, take care!
