Not worth it.

The neighborhood is nice & safe & seems to be quiet until you are sleeping at 4 a.m. & you hear the train.Personally I have had several issues that I felt we're not handled correctly which has led to an overall mediocre experience at the property. Rent continues to rise while there are no real improvements made to the apartments. One day I noticed someone painting the rusted air conditioners. The security of the property is often advertised but the outer door to my building was without a lock... for 5 months before being fixed and still is unlocked. In addition, the cameras in both the parking lot & the laundry room are inoperable. My car has been hit before & a neighbor took some items from my laundry & nothing was able to be done because the cameras are fake. Is it legal to advertise cameras knowing that they're inoperable? The two laundry rooms are always clean but I don't believe that 8 washers and dryers is enough to accommodate the entire community. people leave their clothes in the washer and dryer for hours. There is not enough parking for all of the tenant and the parking spaces are very small which causes cars to be very close. You can barely travel the middle aisle of the parking lot. If you come home after 7pm, you have to park far away from your apartment or on the street.Due to the close parking, I have had a threatening note placed on my car (we will never know from whom b/c there are no cameras). And people are often threatened for parking in the fire Lanes. I understand compliance but I find it ironic that they can easily terminate a lease due to that but will not work with people who have real life issues come up. Literally 2 days after I signed my lease renewal form, I found out that I was going to be laid off from my job. I immediately went to sit with the property manager & explain the situation. There was no sympathy given.I asked for the option to cancel the lease since it had only been 2 days since the renewal. She quickly referred me to the lease buyout option (>$2000). I do not expect for managers to just break the rules but I believe that empathy is a part of customer service. Also, the apartments are freezing in the winter time. When I was on maternity leave with my newborn my apartment was 56° and it took two weeks to fix the problem. I had to threaten to report before my lines were bled.I have been patient with this community in affording them the opportunity to address things but overall I just have a bad taste in my mouth.

Smell of smoke is outrageous

If you want to live in a place where you have to hold your breathe through the hallway, push a towel up against your door, and still smell cigarette smoke in your own personal apartment...this is the place. Absolutely horrible smell...Literally feels like the hallway is a giant ash tray.

Wow, this certainly isn't the experience that we want you to have with us and we are truly sorry. Have you spoken with our manager about this yet? We do have a few ideas of things that we can do to help alleviate this valid concern. Details from you... would be very helpful so that we can be more efficient in the action plan to resolve the issue. We want to hear from you. Please contact our office via phone or email, or stop by at your earliest convenience. Again, we apologize for what you are experiencing, but do look forward to resolving this issue.

EXCELLENT!

GREAT place to live!! Apartments are well kept, and if there is ever any problems the landlord is quick to fix it!! Area is quiet and near many restaurants, bars, etc. for a fun night out. Parking lot is large, I have never had a problem finding a space. Couldn't complain about anything. Would highly recommend!

Rude Landlady, outdated apartment, horrible parking, overpriced

This is the worst apartment I have ever stayed in. There is a huge ant problem where ants were infesting the kitchen. When told about it, the landlady said "it's raining, there are going to be ants coming in". There have been two occasions where a service man entered into my apartment with no notice--just a note outside the door that he had been in. There were four occasions when we received less than 24 hour notice that someone will be in our apartment--getting a note in the evening and someone... coming in the next morning. The parking is horrible. You will either have to park very far away from your apartment (down a huge hill) or not even have a space for your car in the lot. The landlady is very rude, threatening to call the police numerous times if someone parks in one of the many unused, unmarked areas. We were at the apartment for three months and we received ELEVEN memos/notices to all tenants were the landlady is scolding her tenants for bikes being out, cars and parking, etc. Eleven in three months! The dumpster was constantly full because service men would fill it up every week. We received a threatening memo from the landlady saying if we put any items outside of the full dumpster then she will evict. Don't be fooled by the nice signs and landscaping--the insides are old and falling apart. The ovens are from the 80's, the kitchens are so tiny and narrow, no ceiling fans in the bedrooms, only 1 AC unit in the living room and it gets very hot in the bedrooms, very thin walls, and a low flush toilet. I would rather have safer ovens and upgraded apartments than new signs and landscaping. The cost for a two bedroom is robbery--go to Beechmont where there are much nicer and spacious apartments for half the price.

Property Manager at Centennial Woods Apartments responded to this review

We are sad to hear that this was how you feel about your experience at Centennial Woods. While we do acknowledge your frustrations, we also know that this is not the norm in community experience. Our dedication to clean homes and a fresh community... atmosphere has been expanded to our homes which are being updated upon move out. Our effort to provide consistent communication to our community members is vital as we make these changes. While notices may seem excessive, the intent to illicit the help of residents and create an open dialogue is always paramount. It is unfortunate that we did not know more of your concerns regarding entry to your apartment home as we would have better accommodated your schedule to perform any inspections, repairs, or even pest control treatments. Open communication is essential in resolving any concern and we regret that there is no name or contact information with which to follow up going forward. Please feel free to contact us directly, should you want to discuss your concerns further.

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT!!!

Recently Centennial Woods has a new on-site manager and the difference is clear! Apartments are being updated, questionable neighbors are disappearing and friendly ones are quickly coming in. The property is cleaner, the parking is managed, maintenance is easy to schedule and complete! If you are looking for an affordable apartment close to everything Centennial Woods is a great choice. Close to rt. 50 and 71 it is easy to get everywhere including downtown, Clifton, Oakley, Hyde Park, and... Mariemont to name a few. Nearby parks and trails make this a great apartment for families as well!
