You'll Regret It

As someone who lived here for almost 2 years I wish I could give this place a great review as it had so much potential, but there were too many cons I don't think anyone could stand to live here even if it looks great on the outside.

Here's just a few of the problems with The Rise Apartment Complex.

Safety: Although there is a safety patrol car that sometimes roams the complex, it's hard to feel safe in an area when you hear gun shots almost every night and loud arguments around the complex...
.

Parking: Parking costs extra and then people still park in your spot and then you have no where to park but several streets down.

Build Quality: The buildings were made to look nice initially but are cheaply made and are falling apart from the inside out. Also, the walls are extremely thin so be prepared to hear everything and everyone outside of your rooms

Staff: I won't mention who but some of the staff is incredibly difficult to work with and if they disagree with anything they will not respond to your emails or calls.

Pool: You're not allowed to bring guests to the pool during weekends.

Fitness Room: You have to pay to bring any guests to the fitness room which is absurd.

Maintenance: Maintenance requests can take weeks-months.

WiFi: You're forced to pay extra and use their wifi and it cuts out and goes down all the time.

Fees: Random fees and upcharges can appear on your monthly bills so always watch and be prepared.

Honest Review

I used to live here and so I will start off with the pros: conveniently situated in downtown not far from the short north and an easy commute to many areas. New apartments and okay size of unit, washer/dryer in unit, cable included in rent, parking space inside complex for $25 monthly, community Wi-Fi, and exterior of apartments look good. The management/office team were friendly.

Cons: Some residents allow their front entry doors to slam constantly whenever they come and go. At all times...
throughout the day and night so it is a constant disruption. You hear toilet seats dropping and it is quite loud. I know there will be some standard apartment noises which is inevitable. However, certain noises should be suppressed by quality construction practices such as soundproofing and better insulation. I could clearly hear my neighbors in the restroom and in their bedroom (conversations amongst other things). It was almost as if they lived in my apartment and that is not good whatsoever. I prefer more privacy and want to enjoy my space! Parking for guests - on street parking is a small area so that is extremely limited. The interior painting can be better as you see splatters and drip marks as though it was rushed, especially on the gray paint. I had problems with the air conditioner numerous times, and this was frustrating every time I wanted air it never worked properly. The maintenance team would always fix it, but it was like it became a temporary fix for a short time period and then the problem would arise again. But they were always courteous, and I received a token for the mishaps!

Downtown Living

I like the fact that the apartments are brand new, modern amenities, sleek look and nice aesthetic overall. Prime location with excellent price point and very close to everything you could imagine and more when you think of downtown living. A few things I think could be improved upon. First, it is very difficult to reach anyone in the office. Whether you call, send an email, or message through the portal... you do not hear back or get anyone for that matter. I can see who comes into the office... so it amazes me that there is no contact yet if you go inside the office someone is there?? Some of us enjoy personal customer service and it would be nice to speak to a live person. I had issues with my AC and you would assume this would not happen being that the place is new but that was a problem in the summer heat. However, the maintenance team helped a great deal but I did not get a call etc. as to when they would come...again communication.

Lastly, parking is a problem at times. The residents get to have assigned parking spots which is great for a small fee. But, there are times when you leave or over the weekend when you come back home and someone is in your spot. Whether it is for a short time or not and a lot of residents here work various hours and travel - which should not matter whether my car is in my assigned spot or not. I am paying for a spot that no one should be parking in...simple as that. Guests have to park on the street which is common in downtown living but there are homeowners across the street so I am sure they are trying to maintain their street parking too. Overall I had to give three stars because the small things could make this place so much better.
