Good apartment for the price and location!
I've lived here for a year and half. It's definitely not luxury living, but it is affordable and the apartment has been great for me. I'm giving it four stars because there are some things that I would change. My shower had some mold in it when I moved in that I couldn't get rid of after multiple attempts. I just deal with it now and don't think about it that much. The paint job is a little rough, so there is paint in places where it clearly isn't supposed to be. There are some places on the... wall that have clearly been repaired and painted over. The building is old (about 50 years) and it used to have lead paint but they give you information about that. The floors can be a little creaky.
I don't run the heat much but it works when I do. The parking structure always has an open spot, so I don't have to worry about finding an off-street parking spot. My oven wasn't working a few months after I moved in (would heat to random temps when I turned it on) so I put in a maintenance request and had a new oven installed within a week, which I very much appreciated. I haven't had an issue with any of my other appliances. I put a small table and chairs out on the deck, and it is a nice place to eat a meal or enjoy a sunset.
I also like the layout a lot. The living area is large enough that I have a living area and a little office area with a desk that I separated with an open bookshelf thing from Ikea. I have a full size couch in the living area and a decent sized desk in the office area. I also have a small chair, a tv stand, and a cat tree in the living area and there is still room to do yoga on the floor. The kitchen is small but functional. Lots of cabinets and drawers. The bedroom is decent sized. The closet is large! There is plenty of room for clothing and other storage. There are also two additional small storage closets in my unit.
The location is nice; I can walk to my office on campus everyday (about a 15-minute walk) and Fred Meyer is just a 3-minute walk away if you need to make a quick run to the grocery store. My window and deck face 23rd St and there's not too much noise from traffic, though in the non-winter months you can hear someone doing yardwork almost every day.
Overall, I would live here again. Some of the reviews that I have read of this place are pretty negative and I guess I see where they're coming from, but I didn't have an unrealistic expectation of this being a luxury apartment when I moved in so I have been very satisfied.
