Paper-thin walls, inconsiderate neighbors, unresponsive management. If you value your sleep and your sanity, this is not the place for you.

This building has its original 1960's aluminum windows, which are drafty as hell. Power bills are $300+ in fall and winter. There is no air conditioning, and baseboard heating is very inefficient. I just hate wasting heat and electricity when modern windows could really help. Aluminum windows are only supposed to last 30-40 years. These are 60 years old.
The old single-pane windows fail to dampen street noise, which is extremely LOUD. 20th Street is a major arterial for heavy construction... equipment coming off of Highway 26 into the city mostly between 3 and 7 a.m. Dump trucks, cranes, backhoes, and flat-bed trucks RUMBLE through the residential streets grinding the breaks, and belching diesel smoke from one Stop Sign to another. It was difficult to live here the full 12 months, mostly due to lack of sleep. We almost didn't make it. I see that several people left recently before their leases are up.
The plumbing in the building has major, unfixable problems, due to calcification in the pipes. This creates very poor water flow and low pressure. Also, the small hot water heater does not fill the tub before running out of water.
The staff is professional, courteous and responsive. The maintenance fellow was very nice and sympathetic, but really cannot fix the basic flaws of the building, which are large-scale and structural.
I love the neighborhood, but do NOT recommend living at the 2020 Building. I wish I know about the noise, the windows, no loading zone and water problems BEFORE I moved in.
