Poor Management
I have been a resident here for over a year and have recently become more and more disappointed with the way the property and community is managed by GMH Capital Partners. While the onsite team is friendly enough and does a great job selling the community - it has quickly become apparent that those who are really in charge are interested in nothing more than generating revenue from overpriced rent and inexplicable fees.
There have been a number of significant issues in the complex since I... moved in including weekly fire alarms in the middle of the night, gas leaks that required the fire department to visit quite frequently, suspicous parking garage structural repairs, and now a complete and total disregard for residents' financial interests and livelihoods during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Each of these issues has generated a significant amount of concern and feedback in the community and residents have sent emails, filed complaints in person, and attempted to discuss on the resident facebook group which is heavily monitored and censored by management. Recently posts have been deleted and members removed from the group for requesting that GMH provide an amenity fee refund or rent deduction as all amenities have been closed (rightly so) and maintenance hours cut during the pandemic. Our quality of life has taken a significant hit and the amenities we pay a MASSIVE premium for are unavailable, yet GMH continues to line their pockets with no hint at returning that money to the community in any fashion.
It is really a shame as the complex has great potential to be the best apartment option in the area due to its location and the promise of amenities and service - but the management company and owners fall short on that promise. They operate as a bureaucracy that hangs their hat on lease language and policies instead of being the neighborly, well intentioned management that the residents need during a difficult time.
I recently renewed my lease as it was difficult to find other options during the pandemic, but the fact that management blatantly ignores resident's concerns and requests has soured my opinion of the complex. They refuse to offer refunds or any sort of compensation due to COVID-19, even to residents who have lost their jobs - and they continue to raise rent for those who choose to renew their leases.
