Good location with poor management

This is a really old building that is (poorly) run by Powelton Properties. When I first went to look at the property, I was blown away by the private back yard for apartment 1R (or 2 depending on what utility company you ask). It is a huge back yard. However, the back yard was extremely dirty and we spent hundreds of dollars and countless weekends cleaning it up.

Along with the underkept back yard there is an extremely disappointing basement. The concrete foundation is eroding, there are...
plants growing around the boiler, and most of the basement floods when it rains.

The washer costs $1.50, but the dryer's coin operation doesn't work and is therefore free--so there's your silver lining.

In lock step with the basement, the common area stairs smell like mold and there is lead paint on every wall from what I can tell. The mail boxes are not utilized so you can expect to look for your mail strewn about in the vestibule.

The management team is extremely unprofessional. They yell at each other and they don't know what their own lease language says. When there is a maintenance request, there is often no response. Typically when there is a maintenance response they show up at your door without warning and stomp around on your rugs in dirty boots. I have called out maintenance for their shoddy work and they always try to blame it on me and fight back instead of apologizing and fixing their mistakes. For instance, they left shards of glass all over the concrete side yard, which is the only entrance to the back yard. When I asked them to clean it up it took three days for them to show up and the guy who showed up was extremely aggressive with me.

I wouldn't recommend this place unless you have absolutely not problem being treated poorly.
