Elegance, an Elevator and Thoughtful Design
I recently had the pleasure of living in a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment in this newly built building, and it exceeded all my expectations. The space boasts a sleek, industrial design with modern finishes including modern light fixtures. The open-concept layout is complemented by high-quality materials and thoughtful touches (e.g., wide doorways with lovely deep green doors, beautiful bathrooms with tile floors, and bronze-colored bath hardware. Thoughtful design touches are everywhere. The... utility closet (with the water heater) has enough room for cleaning supplies and a cat box - with a sliding door to close it off. Each bedroom has huge walk-in closets. It all creates a warm yet contemporary atmosphere.
My apartment faced Fifth Avenue and got a LOT of sun. The fabric blinds are lovely and functional. The windows keep out most of the street noise. This is also a very convenient location to walk to downtown, or to catch a bus (I think about 5 different buses have a stop a few yards from the entrance). There is the cafe downstairs and it is great (esp.the chai tea) - don’t worry, there are no residual odors or additional noise. There is garage parking but it has a waitlist, and there is street parking and 3 parking lots on this same block (it’s about $100/month to park).
The entire building is impeccably clean and well-maintained. The lobby is bright and welcoming, and I loved the unexpected bonus of a ping pong table, which added a fun, community feel. There’s also a dedicated mailroom—a small detail that adds convenience.
The building management deserves special kudos. They’re conscientious, responsive, and take pride in maintaining the property. All locks can be controlled via a phone app, making entry and security effortless and modern. There is a small but very nice gym on the second floor with Pelaton-style equipment. I didn’t get to know many of my neighbors, but many appear to be medical staff working at the UPMC Mercy Hospital a block away. Duquesne University is also a few blocks away.
Finally, there is an elevator, which is super convenient, the treads on the stairs are very wide, which makes taking the stairs easier on the joints. This whole building is secure, safe, and made for aging in place. I have lived in a lot of rentals, and this is my first written recommendation. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this apartment to anyone looking for comfort and style. I had to move away from Pittsburgh, but I loved this apartment.
