Nice Apartment for Starter but few stay over a year

Very nice apartments that start affordable the first year but upon renewal of the lease prices always seen increase noticeably and because of it there seems to be high turn over of residents. Very nice and clean complex. Safe area as well and one of the few places in area allowing large breed dogs. Overall a very good place to live just only issue is the rent increases.

Mediocre and but comfortable

I have lived in this apt complex for 3 full years and it wasn't too bad for the area. Let's start on the outside and work our way in. The apt. has plenty of on street parking, and if you have more than one car per apt., you must park in the overflow areas which are at the end of most blocks. The apt. is very well lit at night, and the residents are mostly older adults. There are a handful of families with kids, and some mature older adults. In the section in which I lived, it was very quiet.... There is a big field across from the apt. that apparently doesn't belong to the apt. People let their dogs run around there on/off leashes. Oh, pets are allowed. There is a pet fee per month. The apt. has dumpsters and recycling which is included in your rent. They are located in the corners of the complex. The apt does also have a pool, it's a decent size, and is clean. It opens at 11am and closes at 9pm. Laundry rooms are located in the basements of each apt. building. It is literally a basement with 2 coin-op washers and 2 coin-op dryers. Otherwise there are no other amenities offered by the apt. I lived in the upstairs apt. which was okay, but ever move you made could be heard underneath you. I got some many complaints from just walking around my apt. The foyer/stair area was old linoleum. The stairs were carpeted. My whole apt was carpeted, even the kitchen. The only thing that wasn't was the bathroom. The bathroom was not updated since the 70's. It was just a bathroom. The stuff worked, but the cabinets were kinda crusty. I didn't use them. The rest of the apartment was just okay. The closets were large. The building was cool with window units (but they are built into the wall) and the heating was baseboard heating. I will warn you to not use the heating. The first winter I lived there I turned on the heat to 65 for 1 billing cycle. My electric bill was $400. I bought a eco infrared space heater. The kitchen...the least favorite place in the whole apartment. The cabinets were from the 60-70's also so they were weird dimensions. They weren't wide enough to put large dishes in...so you had to turn ur plates on a diagonal and then shimmy them in to fit. There is a tiny pantry and no cabinet space. The counters were gross/stained and very old. The refrigerator is from the early 2000's; white old thing. Maintenance was somewhat timely, but somewhat sloppy. Its not a terrible first apt...
