Moved in several month ago and hot water has not worked but maybe twice. Leake happened causing water to drop into the tenants apartment below us so we called the office maintenance came cut large hole in wall put fans in to dry it out and now everything smells like mildew. Charges us every time maintenance comes to fix something but don't see this hidden fee in the lease as well as other admin fees etc. that they charge us for. I do know that as long as I am not the person that causes any... damage or for the reason of the repair it is the responsibility of the apartment complex t o fix the repairs with in 14 days per the SC law. This was my first apartment and I thought this was going to be a great experience but turned into the worst mistake ever. Will be making a compliant but not to the office.
SC Law States:
Responsibilities of Landlords
Responsibilities of Landlords
The law requires homeowners to comply with housing and building codes related to health and safety. In addition, they have to make all repairs and fixtures to keep the unit livable.
Their other responsibilities include keeping common areas safe and clean, providing running water, hot water, electrical, plumbing, sanitary, gas, ventilation, and other facilities, and maintaining all home appliances in good working order.
