Better Places Around Lubbock
First off let me say I’m a graduate college student who moved here because of the low rent and newly updated apartments. My experience with Woodcrest has been poor over the course of the 2 years I have lived here.
I’ll break my review into 3 main complaints. Maybe your experience will differ from mine, but be wary of renting from here. Many places in Lubbock are around this price point that if I were to have lived here again, I would have chosen before here.
Maintenance:
Spent my first... summer and 3/4s my second summer with no AC. The unit would freeze and maintenance took over a year to get the problem sorted out. Spent last summer with days where the inside temp exceeded 90 degrees. Had a condenser unit that ran constantly and froze because of a bad coil which cost me $150 a month in electric, when no AC was coming through. When I first moved in the hot water valve for the washing machine hookup was broken and capped off instead of properly fixed resulting in hot water burning me and flooding the utility room on the day a moved in. Had to shut of the hot water at the water heater and when emergency maintenance showed up, they said “well it’s fixed now” and left after they saw we had shut off the water and had 1” of water on the floor of the utility room.
Noise:
Neighbors have dogs that bark all day and all night long. Also, neighbors that have a subwoofer that constantly play music through it all throughout the day and all throughout the night. You’ll hear stuff outside fairly loud too because of the poor seals on the doors. This is especially an issue during COVID where most of my college work is completed from home. I can hardly do my work at home because of the noise, leading me to often go elsewhere to study or read. Not what you would normally consider from somewhere you call home.
Contact with property:
I’ve emailed the property multiple times with my complaints and needs for service (such as my air conditioning issues) with no response. You can call or go to the front desk to get them to send maintenance out, but does no better than when you put in a request through the app. The property manager has little/no regard and does little to help the renters who pay on time every month and are courteous to the apartment community.
It seems many people who live here decide to leave after a year or two (as most of my neighbors have changed since I have lived here), and there is probably good reason for that.

Every resident is important and we are sincerely sorry that you have experienced a problem. Summertime in Texas can be tough on AC units and we recommend running the cool setting about 20 degrees lower than the outside temperature. This will keep the... unit from freezing. We apologize for the slow response regarding maintenance requests. During peak seasons like the summer, we can get backed up with maintenance requests and part orders. The resident portal is the best way to submit work orders. We encourage residents to speak with neighbors regarding the noise level before bringing it to management. This improves the level of community in our complex and helps you get to know you neighbors!
