Overpriced Crappy Apartments

I strongly advise against renting these apartments. In June, we were searching for a place near my daughter, who was about to have her baby. We decided to move into the same apartments as her so she could receive a $300 credit. The leasing agent, Tracy, showed us a "2 Bedroom 2 Bath" unit quickly, and I realized later that no lights were on during the visit. Since my daughter wasn't feeling well, we did the paperwork over the phone. I was stressed out that day because I knew that my daughter was... due any minute.

On moving day, we found the apartment hadn't been cleaned. We had to go to Home Depot to buy cleaning supplies because everything was dirty, from the toilet and shower to the stove and blinds. We cleaned it quickly and moved in due to my daughter's recent delivery and her baby being in the NICU. As we settled in, we noticed several issues. The apartment had a significant mosquito problem, and the washer and dryer were so old that they were damaging our clothes. We also struggled to get the dirt off the floors and noticed what appeared to be mold in the shower.

We reported these issues during our move-in inspection, but the management took no action. They simply painted over the mold repeatedly every time someone moved out, without addressing the underlying problem. We also faced issues with the dishwasher, water quality, mosquitoes, and roaches, but the management refused to take responsibility or make any improvements.

The air conditioning unit stopped working, and their solution was to pour water over the old, rusty unit outside. They blamed the high electricity bills on the old units and didn't make any effort to improve the situation. The pool was unusable due to mosquitoes, and I developed a rash after using it once. Additionally, our mailbox was robbed, and the management showed no concern about these security issues.

The lack of care and accountability from the management was evident in their responses to our complaints. They failed to address safety, maintenance, and environmental issues and were dismissive of our concerns. The "live it, like it, love it for 30 days" offer was overshadowed by the overwhelming challenges I was facing with my daughter's postpartum care and the baby's hospitalization. Do I recommend these apartments to anyone looking for a decent place to live....NO? Save yourself the headache and the stress of dealing with the condescending, patchwork, crappy apartment complex and do not move here.

Property Manager at Carlyle Place Apartments responded to this review

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to hear about your experience and the challenges you faced during your stay at Carlyle Place. We take all feedback seriously and strive to improve our services based on our... residents’ experiences.

We apologize for the inconvenience you encountered with the cleanliness of your apartment upon move-in. This is not the standard we aim to uphold, and we regret that it added stress during an already challenging time for your family. We understand the importance of a clean and welcoming home, especially when dealing with significant personal matters.

Regarding the maintenance issues you mentioned, including the mosquito problem, washer and dryer, and air conditioning, we are sorry to hear that these were not resolved to your satisfaction. Our goal is to address all maintenance requests promptly and effectively, and we regret that we fell short in your case.

We also take security concerns very seriously and are sorry to hear about the incident with your mailbox. We have improved our security measures to prevent such occurrences.

Your feedback about the pool and other amenities is also noted, and we will be looking into these concerns to make necessary improvements.

We understand that our “live it, like it, love it for 30 days” offer did not meet your expectations, and we apologize for any additional stress this may have caused. We intend to provide a positive living experience for all our residents, and we regret that we did not achieve this in your case.

We appreciate your feedback and would like to discuss your concerns further to see how we can make things right. Please feel free to contact our office directly at 210-321-1700 or JDeMore@VenterraLiving.com to speak to the Community Manager.

Carlyle Place Apartments - A PLACE TO LIVE

To start with, I am using this medium to appreciate the management and staff (Barry, Tracy, Michael, Chris and the entire team) for the relentless effort in making Carlyle Place Apartment (CPA) a place my family and I are happy to call a home.

I have lived here for about 6 months and CPA stand the test of time in terms of professionalism, effective communication, high quality amenities, structure and maintenance. The management is hardworking, approachable, attentive (reasons with your concerns...
and takes prompt steps).

To Address some of my concerns before moving in.

First, I can tell that the building (painting) and pool side is much more beautiful than you have it in the displayed on the website. Nevertheless, the interiors are as beautiful as displayed.

Also, I was concerned that the available unit was by the roadside and there would be noise interference. However, I can say categorically that the units are well insulated and hardly any noise interference. Infact, I often forget that I live by the roadside until I step out of my door.

Conclusively, Venterra living generally has good standard which they have kept to. If I am to recommend an apartment to anyone in the US, I would say, look out for venterra living, it is worth it. To someone in San Antonio, I strongly recommend Carlyle Place Apartment as I am one of the lucky ones to have found Carlyle Place Apartment (Venterra living), with the same good standard and a price my budget accommodates.

I thought to put this out to help someone looking for an affordable and descent apartment.

Great experience

Rented my first unit in August. It was great except for a carpenter ant problem in the bedroom. After some attention from maintenance and exterminator, the manager agreed to move me to an upgraded unit for the same price for the remainder of the lease. The new unit is great. Very nice. Some cracked walls/ceilings due to the building settling which you’ll find in any complex. The gates always work!!! I feel safe going to and from my car even at night. The neighbors are friendly and mostly quiet.... The apartment has some quiet hours in the evening which helps my studies. Some units have a nice view of the golf course, but never get any golf balls in the windows which is nice. Packages are never stolen off my doorstep. Maintenance is friendly and very attentive as is the leasing office. Plenty of parking. My guests have never struggled to find a space. Gym and business center are open after hours. Beautiful complex, especially in the fall. Maintenance picks up trash every morning, so the complex is always clean. I want to renew my lease.
