I would give 0 stars if I could. We moved in in March, and by June our AC was not working fully. It was 90 degrees in the master room with the AC set to 72. This is while my partner and I worked full time outside in 100 degrees every day. Our shower also would not stay cold for more than 20 seconds at a time, and would shoot scalding water, so I could not even take a cold shower to cool down.
We submitted a work order, and for the next three months I sent multiple emails and work orders saying...
the issue was not fixed, even though maintenance came to "fix" it every time I submitted a work order. At one point, after 3 or so times of maintenance coming to "fix" it, my partner and I cleaned the vents ourselves, which were DISGUSTING. It immediately made the AC air pressure slightly better, allowing our room to get down to 80. How did multiple maintenance checks come through and not think to clean the vents.

However, this did not fully fix the problem, and the unit was still not cooling fully. I sent more emails, with more pictures of the thermostat with time stamps, and still got no response. At one point I was told my emails were being forwarded to management, but of course I heard nothing.

Fast forward to now, we still have a month of our lease but we moved out early due to a job I could not pass up. I finally got a hold of management after being told they had not been told that we had been calling and didn't know about our emails. I was then told to just RESUBMIT THE WORK ORDER. At this point it has been 4 months without fully functioning AC, and it had also been leaking for a few weeks even AFTER maintenance came to "fix" the leak.

All I was trying to ask was for some sort of rent reduction for the last month, which we fully plan to pay, but instead of even addressing this question, they just keep telling me to re submit a work order. It's like talking to a brick wall.

Additionally, I found out recently from a coworker who also lives there, that when their AC was out for two weeks they were given a window AC unit until maintenance could fix the issue. Of course this was never offered to us after MONTHS of overheating. We ended up spending 200$ to get our own.

I ALSO found out about a unit that had mold which made the residents sick and they are pursuing legal action, but that is not my story to tell.

DO NOT LIVE HERE.

Property Manager at The Abbey at Medical Center responded to this review

Hi Elyse, Thank you for your review. We appreciate all feedback as it assists us in areas where improvement is needed. We apologize for not meeting your expectations and comfort settings. As we had previously discussed with the household, there are a... number of unforeseen reasons that may contribute to a mechanical item malfunctioning. I understood your AC was reported as inoperable/not cooling at least once a month for various reasons. Our AC certified technicians responded to each request making the required repairs, testing the air flow, and ensuring the proper functionality of the equipment. In some cases, the strain from the malfunction will often cause strain on other components resulting in the over exertion of their function and require maintenance without notice. The use of blinds and curtains are strongly recommended and encouraged to minimize heat from windows. A unit on the third floor will often experience the feeling of more heat due to the direct sun exposure. Abbey at Medical Center. Again, we apologize we missed your expectations and hope you have settled into your new home comfortably.

Bait and switch!! Beware

Worse apartments I've ever lived in!! (And I came from a low income complex) The apartment we received was nothing like the one we were shown. (but that was the least of my complaints) We signed the lease. We we're set to move in Sept 1st. We get an email asking if it would be ok to push our move in date to the 7th because they needed time to clean the apartment and fix things before we moved in. We called said that would not work for us. Since I took vacation days and couldn't reschedule. Plus... my roommate works 7 days on and 7 days off and the first was during her off week. But we were told we couldn't move in until the 1st. It was a total inconvenience but whatever. Got the keys on the 7th. Entered the apartment for the first time on the 10th and it was not cleaned! Supposedly we got new floors but they were scuffed , paint drippings all over. We're moped or wiped down. A small pile of trash on the floor. The stove has paint on the stove top and the burners. (CAN WE SAY FIRE HAZARD!!) The fridge needs to be replaced completely!! It wobbles. It's missing shelves inside. It doesn't get cold. The insulation is all torn up on the door!! And that's where the roaches are coming from!! There was a leak in the master bathroom and we were told the toilet was broken. Toilet needs to be replaced and WE NEED TO PAY FOR IT!! WTH!! Why?? Cause it's not normal wear and tear. But yet we had only been there for 2 days! Dryer doesn't dry the clothes! And management sucks!! Anything we mentioned that was wrong, we were told it's a 40 yr old building and that it's wear and tear! Keys didn't work at one point. So we were unable to get in. When I asked what happened they try to say it was the wrong key. But yet I had already used them twice before and they worked. Mailboxes have hours of operation . You have to use a 3rd party to have packages delivered. First night I stayed woke up to a car on bricks missing all 4 tires. So yea worse experience I've had with moving in. Management doesn't care. We haven't even been here a month and we're already counting down til the lease is up!!

The Worst Experience!!!

We have been having issues with leaks since we moved in November 2022. 4 months later and one issue apparently resolved after constant patchwork that didn't work. Now we are having a drainage issue and after putting in multiple work orders and calling the main office nothing has been done and it's going on a month. They keep promising it will be getting done tomorrow and tomorrow has now been almost 4 weeks. Water has even gone into both bedrooms now. They can't even give you a straight... answer as to what the problem may be. Honestly, I don't even think they know what the issue is or what they may be doing.

I wish I could give this zero stars

From the moment we moved in of May 2022, we have had a continuous fight with pests. As soon as we unpacked, we started finding cockroaches and ants. After putting in a work order for pest control and nothing getting better, I bought my own ant and roach traps. The ants went away but we have had roaches and other small beetles CONSTANTLY ever since, no matter how many times we’ve called pest control out. I have gone to management on multiple occasions and they have been unhelpful and unresponsive... . I have even taken it to the corporate office and also had no help from them. Then today, to top it all off, we found a hole in the wall of the closet with a mouse nest pouring out of it. It is absolutely unsanitary and unsafe living conditions and management claims there is nothing they can do about it outside of calling pest control. I wish I could give this complex zero stars. Please help yourself and take your business to literally any other complex.

Great Property

The front office staff are so nice and helpful. The location to work is great and the prices are very fair for the quality of the apartment.
