In full disclosure, I am using an anonymous name to protect my privacy. In fairness, I thought I would wait a couple of weeks before writing an honest review of my experience here at The Freehand so far. The gentleman in the office, Rockwell, is very helpful and responsive, which is a plus! My 2 star rating mainly reflects my disappointment in how the two amenities I was hoping for are not yet in fruition; the workout gym and the WiFi not being available yet. I have been living here for two... weeks and both are still not available. The dates of availability for the gym and WiFi keep getting pushed back. I have asked if they can reimburse me for the amount it costs of not having the gym amenity, and they said they could not do it. To their credit, they did provide a temporary public WiFi for everyone to use, however, the TV will not connect to that WiFi. The Google fiber they keep promising for each room keeps getting delayed. Actions speak louder than words.
The apartment does have new appliances as they promised. However, the renovation job was very poorly done in my opinion. There are left over stains of drywall on the wooden floors, and random spots of drywall dust throughout the apartment. There are different botched renovated spots from the renovators. The air conditioning unit/heater is NOT a new appliance. It is still the same old ones from when it was a motel. My filter was filthy and they had to try vacuuming it out which didn’t clean it out that well; I ended up rinsing it out really good in the sink. The main door has a huge gap at the bottom which is kind of an invasion of privacy. For some reason in which I can’t remember, they said that they couldn’t put sweepers on the doors of all the units. At night time you will need a towel to put at the base of the door to prevent the hallway light from coming into your room. Furthermore, the blinds are not effective in blocking out the lights from the parking lot. You will need your own drapes to hang up to create a comfortably dark enough environment to sleep in.
I am not the type of person who is inclined to write reviews like this, but just felt like something needed to be said. I am sure the gym and WiFi will be available at some point in the future, but management continually delaying the availability dates of those amenities time and again, without compensation, is very unprofessional and has not met my expectations of the promised quality of life I had bargained for in living here.
