Worst Apartment ever!
I had several issues while I lived there. First off, my apartment smelled like cigarettes and I asked the leasing staff to rid the odor from my apartment. They finally removed enough of it the second time I asked to the point where it was livable.
Then, I began hearing welding noise outside of my apartment. The apartment complex did not notify the residents, but the stairs did not meet the fire code for safety so they had to get them fixed. The welders worked every day with their car size... generators and I asked the leasing staff if they could work somewhere else since the noise was unlivable for me. Then, the leasing staff said “everyone else has to deal with it, so why can’t you deal with it?” Seriously? How rude! They should have apologized about the issue. But they were too lazy to do that.
The third problem I dealt with occurred when I returned from out of town. The leasing staff left a notice to vacate my apartment with only a 1.5 month notice to move out. I had already moved 7 times in the last 2 years, so I was not ready to move yet again since I had moved so many times already. I asked them if I could move to another apartment in the complex since I liked the space itself and I was tired of moving and they said that they couldn’t since they mass vacated a bunch of residents. When I asked them why they were mass vacating residents, they said “well we don’t have to tell you why, we just send those notices out to people…” Then, with a simple google search, I found out that Sterling Village apartments were planning on renovating their apartments and did not have the integrity to tell anyone about them. If you cared about your residents, you would not keep stuff like that a secret. Instead, you would send a courtesy email notifying your residents of what’s going on in the apartment. The leasing staff failed to properly address this situation and properly communicate with their residents. It showed they’re unprofessional and lack respect for the residents.
Lastly, when my dryer stopped working, I asked maintenance to fix my dryer. They came over two separate times to attempt to fix the dryer and failed to fix it. When I told the maintenance guy about the issues upon move-out inspection, he argued with me and said “well you can’t win them all…” Seriously??? The people at Sterling Village are so rude and unprofessional to their residents and clearly don’t care about them. I’m so glad I don’t live at Sterling Village anymore… I’ll say that much.
