Walls are paper thin
My neighbors have 2 huge dogs. Constantly running up and down stairs. Sounds like coming from my apartment all night long. Other side I hear the guy snoring and coughing throughout night as well. Place is nice but huge deterrent is sound/ neighbors

Great Place to Live
I have enjoyed living in this apartment. The buildings are well kept. There is plenty of space. It is reasonably priced. I definitely would recommend it.

I'm going to miss it here :(
I usually don't write reviews but a girlfriend of mine saw the previous review and called to ask my opinion, so I thought I'd share it here with everyone else as well. I've had a great experience at General's Retreat. I lived there this past year as I was finishing my degree and enjoyed the complex. I did have an issue with a washer, but the repair man was there the next day and there haven't been any issues since. It's nice being at a complex with some outdoor living space, especially in... the fall and spring when the weather is beautiful. Don't believe everything you read, it's a great place to live.

If I could give it 0 for being a literal step above a cardboard box, I would.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DO NOT LEASE HERE.
In less than 6 months, we have had/or heard that others in the surrounding apartments have experienced BED BUGS, THE CEILINGS FALL DOWN, BLACK MOLD, MICE, ANTS, LEAKS, PIPES BURST, & WATER DAMAGE.
The "24hr maintenance" doesn't answer, mice can be heard in the walls, there is black mold, and the mgt team is rude and not helpful. Oh, and when they do come in to "fix" problems in the apartment, they just slap a bandaid on them instead- ONLY because you... threaten to file a complaint with the Planning and Development Office in Lexington, VA.
