I had a poor experience after moving out of an apartment that is handled by Hall Associates. I am writing this review to warn future tenants of some deceptive practices that they employ in regards to our security deposit.
When I first moved in I was told my security deposit is $725 which is equal to 1 months rent. There was no mention that $200 of that is a "non-refundable security deposit". My landlord disagrees and says she had mentioned it during my move-in process but I am sure she never... did. I have never even heard the term "non-refundable security deposit", it sounds like an oxymoron and I definitely would have asked about it if she truly had mentioned it.
To be fair to the company, they did mention that $200 is non-refundable in the lease. However there is no mention on what this money is actually used for. When I asked my landlord she had mentioned that they are charged $200 by their "vendor" to get the apartment ready for a new tenant to move in. This makes sense, however I was also charged when moving out - $83 for carpet cleaning and $25 for oven cleaning, and this money was taken out of the "refundable" $525.
Leaving 2 stars rather than 1 because other than this issue I have had no problems with this agency or my landlord and technically what they are doing is legal. I however feel deceived because these specifics were not mentioned when I moved in and I feel we are being charged twice, both moving in and moving out. I hope future renters can see this review and at least ask the agency before they move in about the specific details regarding their security deposit.
For Cedarwood apartments specifically, I lived here for ~15 months and the only complaint I had was how dirty the stairs and carpet are in front of my apartment. The place is quiet and close to the hospital, maintenance was prompt and fixed everything with no issues. I did have difficulties reaching the landlord but we eventually would get in contact with either other and she was always pleasant and receptive(other than the security deposit issue)

Great place to live
I have lived here for quite some time and it has been a great place to live. Not only is the price pretty good for the area, but the management team is wonderful as well. It's a family run business and you can definitely tell. The complex, across from knollwood Apartments is hidden away and is very pleasing to the eye, covered by beautiful trees. No complaints thus far.
