They should call it a fee, not a deposit
BEWARE. We lived there for one year and couldn't wait to get out. Aside from the paper thin walls and maintenance men who actually referred to themselves as "lazy, " as well as made rude comments, and caused my roommate to get injured by their negligence, the property management clearly had no intention of giving us any of our deposit back. A $750 deposit was whittled down to a $35 refund. My roommate and I followed all of the move-out guidelines to the best of our understanding (the staff is... NOT on the page about anything.) and yet we were accused of "very matted and worn" carpeting. This was clearly a way to make up for the difference in fees they were expecting to receive on repainting. (We painted, after getting specific permission, and repainted everything exactly as we were told.) The maintenance man told us he was going to have to paint anyway, and yet they still charged us $200 to repaint what we just repainted. I have rented for 7 years and NEVER not received a majority of my deposit. I leave a place as nice as I get it.
