Great building and management
I rented a one-bedroom at Mysa for 18 months. I recently moved out so that I could live closer to work. I had an excellent experience living here.
Positives:
- Very new building, well designed and constructed. I didn't have any major maintenance issues. The apartment interiors look very nice and the appliances were mostly good quality.
- The front desk, maintenance, and management staff were always friendly and easy to get in contact with. I never had any negative interactions with anyone from... Epic Asset Management.
- Kitchen layout was great and functional, with plenty of cabinet and storage space.
- Vinyl plank flooring was durable and great for pets and also looked pretty nice.
-Good sound proofing, I could rarely hear noise from neighboring apartments. Noise still comes in from the hall but not much gets through the walls.
- It was easy to make payments and submit maintenance requests through their online portal.
- Convenient trash and recycling chutes on every floor.
- The secured package lockers are great, I never had any problems with theft.
- Extremely quick access to transit and businesses on Lake City way.
- Move out was easy and painless. Many other management companies will take most of your damage deposit for no good reason, but Epic only took a small and reasonable amount.
Negatives:
- There is paid parking only and not enough spaces for every unit to have a spot. Only one permit was available per apartment. Some of the parking spaces are really small and at times unusable if people don't park perfectly in the lines, so occasionally you can't find a spot in the garage even if you have a permit.
- Street parking is competitive on the blocks by Mysa so you may have to park a few blocks away if you aren't using the garage.
- Bums often hang out in the parking lot on the north side of the building. The lot is separated from Mysa by a high fence so it's not a big security issue, but could get pretty loud and disruptive at times. There are some major encampments a few blocks away.
- Wifi was easy to set up from the pre installed routers and usually worked well, but would occasionally slow down a lot. Maybe due to interference from neighboring apartments?
- Washer/dryer were a cheap top-loading combo model that were loud and rattled around when in use. Worked fine but the noise was pretty bad.
- I was in a south facing, upper floor apartment and it got quite hot in the summer. There is no AC in the apartments so I got myself a small portable unit.
