Nice apartments on initial impression with glaring flaws

The apartments at Paceline are actually pretty nice but after living in my unit for over a year there are some flaws that need to be addressed. My biggest gripe with these apartments are that the walls are PAPER thin. Depending on your unit, you'll be able to hear everything next door. My experience was exacerbated by a fire neighbor couple who I had to report for domestic disturbances at least a handful of times (not in the apartments control and they were helpful in helping me handle things)... .

Right before moving out, the management switched up last minute to Avenue5 and involved transferring to a new system. As a result, billing was down for a while and there was a lot of confusion for that month. There was also a switch in staff as well which was a letdown for me as the previous apartment manager was now gone (Dave was super helpful).

Upon moving out, make sure to scrub every single nook and cranny or expect to pay a few hundred dollars. My move-out fee was almost 400 dollars due to cleaning.

They only care about your money. Stay away.

While the building is relatively new and appears nice on the outside, the sound insulation is non-existent and the walls are paper thin, and you can clearly hear footsteps and music from the neighbors. Very often the open areas/hallways of the building are filled with smell of weed. Trash disposals are very often full and there would be trash littered outside the disposal area on the hallway. The mail packages are often littered on the ground near the mail area, also, making them prone to be... stolen

Nonetheless, perhaps the most disheartening part of the experience is that I have been made to feel that the management is too money focused, cut-throat rigid and view tenants more as a source of dollars than human beings. I was charged close to 600 dollars for moving out, despite keeping the apt in as close to my move in condition as possible, and way better than what normal wear and tear would do. Yes, I was not able to clean the floors fully before I left, but that is because the elevator broke down on my move out date and my movers have had to go to a second job of the day, leaving me no time to clean the floors fully but cleaning the apt would not need to cost so much. I only lived in the apt for less than 6 months and I did not drill any holes or made any noticeable damage to the walls so charging a $325 fee for repainting is insane. When I called, they agreed $325 is too excessive and reluctantly agreed to cut the amount in half, but why bill me $325 to begin with? Only explanation is that they are trying to milk the last penny out of the tenant. It appears that I am not alone in my experience. I actually have been in conversations with the previous tenants at Paceline( I got to know them as I used to hear footsteps every morning from their apt upstairs but they are really nice about it and we exchanged numbers), and they have the same issues with noise plus frequent lost packages, and were charged a ridiculous amount of moving out fees, also.

My suggestion is to avoid paceline as much as possible, as they only appear nice on the exterior, and seem to only care about your money and will milk the last cent out of you.

Not worth the price

The only reason I am giving this complex 2 stars, is because the actual apartment units are very nice. The complex itself needs a lot of work. When I first moved in the staff was great. They were a new building, and had very few issues. The longer I lived there, the more issues this complex experienced. Be prepared to hold on to your trash for several days or check the trash chutes before even thinking of emptying your trash. The chutes are clogged constantly. This is not only inconvenient, but... creates the added problem of the hallways constantly smelling like trash. The few times residents tried to alleviate the issue by placing plug in scents to the walls, the complex removed them. Be prepared to never be able to get a hold of staff, unless you are there while the office is open (which is also a hit or miss). They almost never answer the phone, and almost never return messages. I had a package stolen from their office after I moved. Also, plan on not driving a car because the parking lot is full, and the closest street parking is many blocks away. Be prepared to never have guests as there is no guest parking. This complex has gone down hill over the years it has been open. The prices don't justify what you get here. I suggest looking elsewhere.

Worst apartment in WA

Dog poops, disgusting garbage everywhere. Horrible management. Also residents are sooooooo rude. They don't care neighbors at all. I've been a resident over 1 year and half. Wish I could give zero stars. This apartment is definitely the worst in WA. DON'T MOVE!!
