RE: Cat Declawing Requirement
I am in the market for an apartment in the fall, and own 2 older, very well behaved cats. The statement on here that cats must be declawed in order to live here made me physically sick. I’m not sure if people understand the declawing process, I know that I didn’t for the longest time. The process is certainly barbaric. It involves the amputation of the last bone of each toe. The human equivalent is to cut off each finger at the last knuckle. There are many areas in the western region of the... United States as well as many countries that have outlawed it. I do realize that cats with claws could damage carpets, but if cats are trained to use a scratching post, this isn’t a problem. I swear that I’m not a soapbox kind of person and I’m not trying to offend anyone, but it’s just concerning to me how many apartment companies/corporations make this a requirement.
