Worst leasing experience

I rented an apartment during Covid in 2020 when I was attending WVU and moved out ahead of my lease ending as I was no longer a student in WVU. The leasing office was not cooperative during my transitioning period. Not only did they not help with listing the apartment online to find a sublease, they blocked anyone from viewing the apartment. I found someone who was interested but the leasing office would not allow them to tour the apartment or enter it since it was “occupied”. They also charged... me for every little scratch in the apartment, even the ones that were left by previous tenants and I did not receive my security deposit back. At the time, I was a student from out of state who couldn’t afford a lawyer to help with my case therefore I was stuck with paying all the rent due in the contract and still paying till this day even though another tenant has already taken over the unit. I was going through a tough period as I was attending school online during Covid, I was isolated, and alone in a small town. I explained all this to the leasing office but they were not interested and only cared about getting their payments despite other people showing interest in the apartment. I regret leasing an apartment with metro properties and will NOT recommend them to anyone.
