Attempted a renovation, but it just made things worse
This complex was previously owned by University Pointe, and I wish it still was. However, after being bought out by Madhern, things have quickly gone downhill. They made countless "renovations," but several of them were not done right and made things worse.
Here is what you can expect from the renovations:
- new faucets/plumbing means don't expect the ability to control water temperature. It's hot in summer and surprisingly still warm in winter; no cold. Somewhere along the line they crossed... connections and still can't figure out how to fix it.
- expect your new ceiling fans and lights to randomly turn on and off because their remotes interfere with other rooms across the property. Also, there are not enough frequencies available for every room to have a unique remote, and they refuse to replace them with something that will work. Our bedroom light turns on randomly at 2-4am consistently with no way to stop it.
Here are just some things that might be exaggerated/wrong in the property details:
- Resort style pool. It's small, old (from the 60s), and is over 95 degrees in the summer because they won't run the fountain.
- Gated access. This is completely incorrect because the gates physically do not close even if you try to close them, since they attempted the renovation.
- Assigned parking. Firstly, there is no tow company that watches the lot (good or bad, I suppose), so there's no way to enforce the numbered spots. Our neighboring complex usually takes up half of our parking lot on any given day. Secondly, be aware there is only one parking spot per apartment, and yours will probably be taken.
Things I will give them credit for:
- They DO have a landscaping crew come by once a week to pick up the trash / landscape. Trash on the ground does collect quickly but is usually gone within the week.
- They DO have a pool guy about once a week, and the pool is usually clean.
In summary, Madhern attempted a renovation, but many things went wrong. The biggest problem is that they rarely respond to emails and maintenance requests on average take 3-4 weeks for them to show up without any sort of notice. I don't mind most of the smaller issues, but things like our apartment lights turning on in the middle of the night still have not been fixed for the last 4 MONTHS. I just hope an even bigger issue never comes along while we're here.
