Mold and Poop and Everything is Peeling

I never leave a review about anything but our experience here was so bad I must warn people. First, our counters and floor by the fire place started turning yellow and peeling within one month of moving here. Our Patio floor was painted two months ago and started peeling again at the first drop of dew. The lower level (underground) parking garage elevator area looks like a scene from The Last of Us because of the cordyceps branching out across the ceiling. There are literally furry mushrooms... popping out of the cracks in the ceiling. Last winter/spring, brown water dripped from the ceiling every time it rained, mold spread across the entire ceiling, and we got dripped on by brown mold water no matter where we stood while waiting for the elevator. It is one year later and it HAS NOT been addressed. I hope we move before it rains again - I am horrified, as it is so dangerous to be breathing that air! We have only lived here for one year, so who knows how long mold has been growing in there. The room is completely covered in wet carpet and the smell is unbearable when it rains. This is the most dangerous and disgusting issue of this whole complex in my opinion. The second most disgusting thing is every inch of the grass is covered in dog poop. When I take my dog to go, it is impossible to walk on the grass without stepping in poop. Every square foot of the grass has at least two smashed poop piles in it. This has not changed since the day we moved in and everyone who was helping us move stepped in poop. So embarrassing. Last but not least, my hair was burnt off in the pool because the chlorine levels were 22.58 PPM. I got the water tested at a pool place when my hair got wrecked and my wedding band broke off into the water after thirty minutes of soaking in it. Normal chlorine levels are between 2-5 PPM for context. Oh, and Last month we had a rat infestation and after reading these other reviews today it seems like we're not the only ones!....This sounds like a cartoon. Don't move to the Grand Costa Mesa.

Great Affordable Complex

Living at The Grand has been a great experience for me. Juan, the service director, and his tech team are fantastic. They’ve helped me with projects in my apartment, like fixing a plumbing issue and patching a wall (both my fault). The wall looks brand new, and they’ve also touched up other areas where I’ve scratched the paint. Their attention to detail is impressive!

I’ve seen some reviews about noise from construction, but if those reviewers had attended the community open house, they would...
have seen the improvements being made. Yes, there’s some noise, but it’s for the betterment of the complex, and I’m looking forward to the changes.

I work from home, and while the construction noise is noticeable, it’s not disruptive. My video meetings have been unaffected as the noise doesn’t penetrate the apartment fully.

The apartment management team, including Brooke, Nick, and Kevin, is outstanding. They’ve always shown immense respect and kindness, responding quickly to requests and being very friendly.

When I first moved in, the property was managed by Camden. It became The Grand under new management towards the end of my 17-month lease. I have no complaints living here and seeing the improvements and the effort being put into the property, I just decided to renew for another year.

Horrible Horrible company

Do not waste your time anywhere near the Grand. This used to be the Camden Martinique. I was glad they were being bought out however come to find out they kept their maintenance teams and management teams. I cannot tell you the amount of issue we have had in this community. Mail stolen, two major leaks from the apartment above. Twice they had to do emergency work on our bathrooms which caused us not to have a bathroom for a month at a time. My last month with them consists of constant... construction at 8 am. They never warn you about anything and they always flake. When I moved in, I noticed they gave our apartment the landlord special. They literally painted over cat poop on our balcony. Horrible management and horrible people. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY THIS PLACE IS THE OLDEST PROPERTY IN COSTA MESA AND IS FALLING APART.
