About The Markham Apartments

Life meets style at this Cupertino garden-style community that blends thoughtful finishes and luxe amenities with mature trees and well-tended grounds to create a place that feels just like home, only cooler. At Markham, supersized floor plans,... private balconies, an oversized saltwater pool, and a body sculpting fitness center are all here to be enjoyed on a daily basis. And for special occasions (or just because) the poolside kitchen cabana and HD private theatre are great places to get together with the crew. Located in the very best part (we're a little biased) of Silicon Valley, Markham has easy access to entertainment and culture, excellent schools, wide-open green spaces, and an abundance of wining and dining options.

Horrible management team

I strongly advise against leasing from the Markham Apartments in Cupertino for individuals and those who make corporate housing decisions. While the exterior of the apartments look appealing, the interiors are outdated and the appliances are old and obsolete. The place is infested with bugs and plagued by plumbing problems. Dealing with the management team is a nightmare as they seem to make decisions based on personal preferences rather than professionalism. It is unclear what criteria they... base their decisions on, but it is highly unprofessional and unwelcoming. In addition, The Markham has a unique agreement with PG&E, which results in an additional $75.00 in monthly gas charges to operate your water heater. However, they could opt for electric water heaters, which would save their residents $70.00 a month. Unfortunately, this option is not being considered due to their special contract with PG&E. Moreover, they are denying access to other companies like AT&T to provide faster internet services as they are receiving incentives from Comcast. It would be best to not live here and to avoid setting up corporate housing for new employees at the Markham apartments. Doing so would start their new life in the Bay Area on a terrible note.

Property Manager at The Markham responded to this review

Hello – Thank you for taking the time to express your concerns. I apologize that you were unhappy during your stay. Since the corporate housing provider is the leaseholder, we communicate with them directly – and in turn, they communicate directly... with their guests. It sounds like there was a bit of a disconnect that I would like to get to the bottom of. If you have some time, please reach out to us at 408.257.1060 - I would like to learn the name of the corporate housing provider and learn more about their policies as it pertains to their guests. I will also use that opportunity to pass along your concerns.

Thank you again.

Many hidden costs - beware

Watch out for hidden costs. I rented a small apartment mostly for a home office while my house was being renovated. There's a lot of hidden maintenance costs they charge tenants while you're living there. Including 'standard extras' move-out costs that are charged, regardless how immaculate you leave the apartment or after organizing professional clean-out services. Considering I had only rented the apartment for 5 months and never slept there, it was exactly in the same condition as when I... moved in. I had also had the apartment professionally cleaned as recommended by the move-out checklist. However, I was surprised to be charged "extras" anyway, which are additional expenses that Markham claims are used for preparing inspections for new tenants. This includes standard painting that they claim is done after every tenant moves out, carpet steam cleaning, removing fridge & stove to clean the back compartments. I'm not sure how legitimate these charges are and if they are actually done as claimed. Would not recommend a Markham apartment.

Whatever you do, don't move here.

This complex is a crime haven. Break ins and thefts are common. None of the rules are enforced. The management (both the Markham and parent Prometheus) is incompetent, can't be bothered and lies to your face. Save yourself the trouble and pick another place to live.

Don't do it!!

Even when it looks fine from the exterior, please don't do this!! The complex and the service are terrible.

We had a very bad experience with them. The apartment was noisy, they took several days to even fix a door, and they ended charging us more than $7 k when we were moving out ("it was written in the contract"). The team lied to us when we signed the lease.

Even more, they kept changing our final bill: it started being $30k and dropped to $10k, $9k and finally $7k just by complaining that...
it should be around $3k which was what we had signed for. Everything's a mess and in the end they can charge you whatever they want (and if you don't pay that affects your credit history).

In conclusion, don't choose to be robbed!!

The Markham Apartments

This complex is good for those with pets or children because it consists of many small buildings spread over a beautifully landscaped property. This allows for walks, playing on the grass, and enjoying the pool without having to leave the complex. Just outside the property, there is a park as well as shopping centers including a grocery store and restaurants. This makes it convenient for families that may be sharing a car or just want the option to walk. The entire property is pet-friendly and... non-smoking and they have a variety of apartment types, all of which feel really new, bright, and nice. The only downside is somewhat expensive rent, which was just recently raised even more.
