Not a bad place
I moved here in February. The apartment is good sized. The biggest issue we've had is the paint. There are so many layers on every inch of the apartment that it's starting to crack. Other than that I have no issue. The neighbors I live near are fantastic. I am in an upper unit so we don't have noise issues and I've spoken directly to my downstairs neighbors so we can keep an open dialogue in case we get too loud. While the apartments are 50 years old, they have been well maintained. The age does... show but I love it. My bedroom window faces the street and I read old reviews that talked about the noise being an issue. The windows are relatively new and I think that helps with the noise, a lot. I would not be able to sleep if the window was open, so having a fan in your bedroom is advised. we've only had to deal with maintenance 2 times and both times the workers were fantastic and quick. Pets are welcome and everyone is great about cleaning up after them. This place is filled with people who love animals and that is a huge bonus. I do not think it is a great place for younger kids that need space to play outside. The main street gets pretty busy, but it's still a great neighborhood and the schools in the area are amazing. My kids attended Las Posas elementary and Monte Vista junior high and Even when I moved out of the area we kept them in those schools because I've never seen a better district than PVSD. There are often notifications of water shut offs during the day. Usually from 9am-12pm on weekdays. We are always given advance notice and they happen a lot. It has not affected us much since we are at work, but I can see how it would be an issue for someone who is home during those hours. There does seem to be a big turnover of residents but there is a core group of good residents that have been here a long while and never had an issue. I drum that up to apartment life. Some units have a washer dryer combo in them, my advice is to not use these as the take about 4 hours to wash and dry and ultimately you'll still need to hang dry your close for a bit because they are always a tiny bit damp. They hold very little. I feel like the only reason this machine would come in handy is if you have a tiny baby at home. Otherwise walk across the street to the laundry mat or just use the onsite laundry room. I'd rather have a cabinet in it's place. I love it here so far. I do think it's worth checking out if you're looking for a place
