Run for the Hills!!!
I should have seen the first red flag when I finally moved into my unit, and it was disgusting. Keep in mind, I moved in at the very beginning of the pandemic, so you think cleanliness would be an important thing to consider. The kitchen was greasy, the carpet hadn't been vacuumed in probably months, and it stunk like wet dog. I emailed the office about this and never heard back.
The apartment complex itself is slowly declining. I have seen sketchy people hanging around the carports in the... evening, and garbage is everywhere in the trash room, along with disposed furniture and appliances. There are dirty diapers and food all over the place. This has been attracting a lot of bugs, like roaches.
My main issue, though, is with an incredibly noisy neighbor that moved in next to me about 4 months ago and the constant battle I am facing with the property manager about this issue. The noise I have to put up with goes beyond normal apartment noise. Yet, when I have brought this up to the property manager, they could honestly care less. I have dealt with apartment-living for about 10 years, so I know what normal noise is-kids playing, people walking around, the occasional movement you can hear next door, or even a one-off party. When someone is playing music so loud, on almost a daily basis, that you can hear the lyrics to the song in your unit and the bass is rattling stuff on your shelves, it is excessive, and management needs to do something about it. I have done everything management has asked-I have emailed or called them when these incidents occur, and I have sent them recordings of the noise. Still, nothing has changed, even though the manager claims they are looking into it. They are hiding behind this clause in our lease that states the hours of quiet time for the community, and we are just supposed to deal with anything outside of the designated quiet time. They also claim they can't always contact the neighbor about this because it is harassment if they do.
All I can say is that if you don't run into any problems here, it can be a great place to live, aside from the other things I mentioned above. That is where I was up until about 4 months ago. Now, I can't wait for my lease to be up.
