Disappointed is an understatememt
My girlfriend and I relocated from Indiana and looked at apartments online and picked a few that we liked that would have availability when we needed it. She flew down looked at them and chose this place based on the updated model. We agreed on a unit that ws supposed to be updated and to a move in date of 09/19/2022 at 12 pm.
When we arrived for the orientation and to get the keys they informed us that there was an issue and that our apartment would not be ready for another 4 days and that... we could move into a smaller unit today then move again when ours was available. Keep in mind we just moved our stuff from Indiana last week into a storage unit then loaded it back up in a truck today and had it in the parking lot ready to move in to our new place.
I told them I was not interested in that option and if I had to wait to move in i would I would find another complex with better communication skills. The Manager responded by telling us that maybe they could find another updated unit, drop the pet fee and this one would on the first level ready to move in later today. Against my better judgment we agreed and waited for four more hours until we could begin to move in.
Once we got the keys and opened up the unit we were very disappointed. the apartment was not updated at all. instead of granite counter tops they had painted the laminate and marble tops, hideous. the appliances were black with stainless steel drip pans. The vinyl plank flooring was two different colors with glue and paint splatter all-over them. The floors were filthy. My girlfriend took her shoes off and was walking in her socks they were black buy the end of the night. the mirrors were corroded on the edges. the front metal were weathered and had corrosion that was just painted over instead of sanded and primed. The baseboards and floors had dirt caked in the corners. The toilet supply lines were gray and fuzzy from the dust build up.
I am a building inspection , property maintenance officer and I have been in public housing that look better and for a fraction of the price.
I will definitely be using the next 11 months of this lease to find a cleaner more modern apartmet. Not the way we wanted to start this.next chapter in our lives.
